Swansea Council and Freedom Leisure are proud to deliver the 60+ Active Leisure Scheme, funded by Sport Wales and the Welsh Government’s Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales programme.
Together, we’re making physical activity more accessible, enjoyable, and socially connected for older adults across Swansea.
This , we’re celebrating the power of social connection through our Active Older Adult Programme, delivered by the Sport & Health Team.
From Nordic Walking and Stand-Up Paddleboarding to Low Impact Circuits and Climbing, these sessions do more than support physical health — they help build friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging in our communities.
💬 ‘Joining the walking group gave me a reason to get out, meet new people, and feel part of something again.’
Let’s continue to champion opportunities that keep older adults active, socially connected, and thriving.

🧓🌍 International Day of Older People – 1 October 2025
Join us and the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities in celebrating this year’s theme: Building Belonging – Celebrating the Power of Our Social Connections.
Sport and physical activity play a vital role in helping older people stay connected — whether it’s through a weekly walking group, a gentle exercise class, or simply sharing a smile during a park session. These moments of movement foster friendships, boost wellbeing, and strengthen our communities.
Let’s raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges faced by older people, and celebrate the power of belonging through active, social lives.
