We work with the UK’s leading consultants to provide a full range of healthcare services to private and NHS referral patients. As part of the healthcare charity, The Healthcare Management Trust, HMT Sancta Maria Hospital is a not-for-profit organisation. As such, we have no shareholders and our surpluses are used to support dementia charities, educational grants, and medical research around ageing

Part of our expert orthopaedics team, Mr Andrew Bebbington specialises in hand, wrist and elbow surgery, treating both general and complex conditions.

After qualifying with honours from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1996, he gained extensive training and experience, completing a senior fellowship in advanced hand and wrist surgery at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham in 2009.

He has since become a key member of the Orthopaedics team at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital.

We were delighted to welcome the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales recently, to see our excellent care in practice and discuss the independent sector's role in supporting the NHS.

Sue Tranka visited our hospital's outpatient and day patient unit, the Radiology department and theatres. She spoke with members of our team and patients about the range of services and care provided.

Ms Tranka was impressed by the hospital facilities, the professionalism of the staff, and the commitment to improving patient outcomes.

The visit was hosted by the hospital’s leadership team. Tracy Ace, Head of Clinical Services at Sancta Maria, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Chief Nursing Officer to Sancta Maria. She recognised the value that the independent healthcare sector brings to the wider care system, which was hugely encouraging. We are grateful for her support in helping to raise the profile of nurses in our sector, and we’re excited about the opportunities for greater collaboration moving forward.”

Ms Tranka added: “I was pleased to visit Sancta Maria Hospital and see first-hand the innovative care available to patients and the way the hospital team uses patient feedback to make impactful changes to their service delivery.”

We also recently celebrated its exceptional performance in a recent Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) inspection, which praised the hospital for its outstanding patient care, safe and effective environment, and positive workplace culture.
