Holistic Steps 🩡We believe everyone deserves to feel better than they do.

We work with individuals and organisations to unlock lasting change - offering the knowledge and tools to understand human behaviour and retune the nervous system 🩡

πŸ—£οΈBe mindful of the tone you use with yourself when you notice that you have leaned back towards unhelpful behaviour patterns. Remember that change is gradual and it is totally normal to take steps backwards as well as forwards πŸ”„.

🩡🚜It is of course ok to feel frustrated when this happens but I encourage you to use the frustration as motivation for more change rather than as another way of judging yourself. Offer yourself the grace you offer others. It is all part of the process 🚜🩡

Remember to make time for childish 😜. Fun is important.

And if you have lost your fun please don't be harsh to yourself about it. Start small, acknowledge the space you are in and find one small thing that offers you relief. Start with small moments of relief. Baby steps back to joy still get you there 🩡

Sparking childlike wonder isn’t childish β€” it’s intelligent healing.

Science shows that childlike play floods the body with dopamine and oxytocin, tones the vagus nerve, lowers cortisol, discharges stored tension, and sends powerful felt safety signals that shift the nervous system from protection mode into deep parasympathetic rest, repair, and vibrant regulation.

In our telehealth practice, we prescribe these mind-body practices with the same intention and precision as a personalized food protocol, targeted supplements, or peptides β€” because mental health is physical health. When joyful, playful practices become part of the healing plan, patients experience measurable improvements in regulation, inflammation reduction, hormone balance, and whole-body vitality.

This is your reminder to take rest, to pause. Be mindful of the 'when... I'll...' trap. There will always be a reason not to and you do not need to earn rest 🩡

A reminder for me today too after I caught myself racing through the tasks πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. I caught it, I stopped, I took ten minutes to focus on my out breath in the sunshine. Remember, you do not need to get this perfect. We are all trying our best 🩡

A little message for those that needed reminding today. You didn't need to do more. You didn't need to do better. You are human, you are trying your best. You are enough 🩡

We couldn't agree with this more. Allowing children the freedom to try, to explore and to make mistakes without shame is so important in the development of their self esteem.

Let's allow children to feel capable. Let's allow children to have some control so that they don't need to seek it. There are many building blocks to self esteem and this is one of the key ones.

Sometimes less from us is more. Within the parameters of safety, let children try. Resist doing things for them because we know how to do it 'right'. You might be surprised by just how much they are capable of when we get out of their way and give them the space to try 🩡

✨The way we see ourselves ✨

We haven't shown this video in training for a number of years but we were inspired to last week by a beautiful lady who commented that she struggles with how she looks. The room was surprised that this gorgeous person (inside and out) would hold negative beliefs about their self.

The truth - so many of us focus on the negatives about ourselves and struggle to see the positives for the many reasons we discuss on our training. There is another way 🩡.

Watch this video and ask yourself, which version is more accurate? The self description or the strangers? Can we move towards a place of self compassion? Can we start noticing our qualities as well as our faults? The things we get right as well as the things we get 'wrong'. Lives change when we find self acceptance. It is possible to live a life where you are on your own side 🩡

✨ Praise ✨

Another quick message about self esteem. We are human BEINGS not human doings. Remember to acknowledge the positives about who we are, not just what we do 🩡.

Ps - the birds clearly wanted to have their say on this one 🐦❀️

The people we spend our time with matters. A little reminder about the social element of our nervous system as we approach the weekend 🩡

✨ The magic of authenticity ✨

Many people spend so much of their lives keeping themselves small, hiding parts of themselves to fit in. Being yourself is truly magic. Not only does it help you find your people but in being yourself you are giving other people permission to do the same.

Thank you so much to cohort 2 in Newport for bringing their true selves to the course. Thank you for your openness, your tears and your laughter. It was all welcome. We absolutely loved working with you. See you soon! 🩡

A lovely morning at Swansea Stadium for Swansea Council's annual ALN Conference. Always a pleasure to be a part of 🩡. We had lots of chats about the importance of TRUE staff wellbeing. We all agreed that you absolutely can pour from an empty cup and that so many professionals in caring roles are doing this at great cost to their own mental and physical health. There is however another way, a way where we can offer the best support to children and young people by offering the best support to ourselves.

The Holistic Steps ethos - knowledge is power. Learning to understand ourselves leads to compassion which leads to change. Life does not have to be as hard as it sometimes feels. There is another way 🩡

Our question today was a big one - 'What I wish I'd known'. Thank you to those who were vulnerable enough to join in and share what they wish they could tell their younger self. Some fantastic advice we could all benefit from. Another inspiring day.
