The belief that there is some future moment more worth our presence than the one we're in right now is why we miss our lives.
(Cory Muscara) - I’ve been trying to remember this every time I’m frustrated (for me mainly while parenting 😅)I keep forgetting it, but yoga (and sometimes, ironically, IG) is a good reminder 🙏🧡

it's not about what we accomplish, or build etc, but how it feels while we're doing it and once we get 'there': does it give us more of the type of energy/ feels that we want; and do we want to have more days filled with this type of energy as the days go by?
This is something I’ve been reflecting on recently. Small examples include harbouring a resentment towards someone (‘I want to prove i am right and that I am suffering’ vs. letting go of whatever hurt me) or even wondering if I should continue to teach a class which gives me weekly anxiety (probably cause it is just one thing too many that I’ve committed to), even though I do enjoy it. There’s no right or wrong… but if something is giving me an energy/feels that I want less of in my life, I need to reflect on how to redraw my boundaries around it (to adjust the energy in my life).
I’m just processing these reflections, so bear with if it doesn’t make sense 😅

‘I’m fine but I cheated, I had a c-section’, said a student of mine, a doctor who’s married to an OB surgeon (ie. who delivers babies). But I may as well have said this myself. It is nuts that I and so so many people I know would still use words like ‘cheating’ ‘cop-out’ ‘easy way out’ for a major abdominal surgery after growing and carrying a human baby (maybe not talking about someone else, but definitely when describing ourselves) … in no other medical area would such surgery be considered ‘cheating’ or ‘easy’. I personally had both (Dylan with an emergency C section after failed forceps, and Lily was VBAC, ie. she came out ‘naturally’ whatever that means). I generally like to think of myself as accepting, kind, patient and all those words… and yet I really, really struggle to BE with my scars even after all these years. They say massage helps scar tissue, but I am just incapable of massaging my scar tissues, I have such a block when I try, and I definitely haven’t asked a physiotherapist to do it, I feel so uncomfortable around it. I’ve been struggling with my feelings around recovery in general recently .. feeling sad angry frustrated.. I’ve shared with a few of you more personally .. but thought I’d share here as well just so if you’re going through anything similar you might feel seen and heard. Not just mamas, but anyone living with / recovering from injuries, surgeries, infertility and discomforts none of us deserve to but must live with. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 I feel you.
Ps. I am super grateful for modern medicine and realise this is a first world ‘problem’

90 seconds for a happier spine and happier body - a simple movement linked to your breath to wake you up and make your spine and body feel better, that you can do anywhere without a yoga mat or yoga clothes, just as you are. I love it. It is also one of the Magic Ten (Jivamukti series) asanas, something you can realistically commit to doing even when you don’t have time to do a ‘proper’ practice, whatever that may mean. (Disclaimer: Inspired by, but I am not using the exact words from Jivamukti yoga). Try it and if you enjoy it you can find more videos and the whole magic ten recorded on .co 😊👋🙌🏼 link in bio

Airplane mode ✨Get out there… now. Even if for a few seconds. Airplane mode on, nature in. you won’t regret it 🌸🧡 doggies are the perfect motivator to go out every day.. and I miss my companion every day .. and think of her whenever I roam these hills and beaches. My nervous system and every cell in my body though is grateful for my other little companions who demand I take them for walks every day as well. My soul, all of our souls, are thankful for it.
