Playful Play Ideas for August Day 21. Build a Lego or recycling City 🏢

Design and construct a miniature city using lego or recycling items (boxes, tubes, sticky tape, paint etc). Make buildings, roads, vehicles, scenery, parks the opportunities are endless!

Playful Play Ideas for August Day 20. Make a shaker or a be**er

You can make a shaker by finding old plastic bottles and filling them up with rice or lentils. Replace the cap and shake. Beaters can be made by cutting old broom handles into 20cm lengths. Sand them smooth with sand paper and beat them against each other. You can paint or decorate as much as you like. Either sing or play a song you like and beat or shake along to it. Dancing is optional but is such good fun! Why wouldn't you?

Playful Play Ideas for August Day 19. Bake a cake day! 🎂

Make 12 cupcakes and decorate with your favourite toppings.

110g softened butter
110 golden caster sugar
2 large eggs
½ tsp vanilla extract
110g self-rasing flour

Heat over to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Fill a 12 cupcake tray with cake cases.

Mix butter and sugar together until smooth. Whisk in the eggs one at a time. Add in the flour and vanilla essence.
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and place a skewer inserted into the middle of the cakes to come out clean. Leave to cool.
Make butter cream (150g softened butter whisked until soft, add and mix 300g icing sugar, 1 tsp vanilla essence and pinch of salt) or icing (icing sugar and water) to cover the top of the cakes and decorate with sprinkles.

A category is chosen such as boys' names. The first player thinks of a boy's name and says it out loud. Sam. The next player has to think of a name beginning with the last letter of Sam. M. They may say Martin. The next player thinks of a name beginning with N. Neil and then beginning with L until you can’t think of a name without repeating a previous name. Other categories could be films, animals, countries, etc

Playful Play Ideas for August Day 17. Jacks

The game of jacks, also known as knucklebones, involves bouncing a ball and picking up jacks according to a set of progressively more difficult rounds. Players take turns tossing the ball, attempting to pick up a specified number of jacks before the ball bounces twice or they drop it. Success in each round allows the player to progress to the next, with the game ending when a player completes all rounds. This game can be played with small stones rather than buying the Jacks. You just need to find a small bouncing ball.

Choose three sports such as Score a goal or three and in (one person in goal and the others play against each other to see who can score three goals, once three goals have been scored that player becomes the next goalie), Rounders, Running, Basketball, Volleyball etc., players compete against each other!

Playful Play Ideas for August, Day 13: Odd sock puppets

Gather up all the odd socks and create amazing sock puppets. Resources paper, colours, glue, pipe cleaners, parcel ribbons or wool etc. Let your imagination run wild as you create your own individual puppets.

Once dried you can create a puppet show!
