Cheriton Medical Centre is closing its doors today for the last time since it was opened by Dr sinha in 1991. Over those 31 years I have worked with some amazing colleagues and made true friends, your personal wishes that I have received are so appreciated, also thank you so much to all the staff who have helped run the surgery with me since it opened. Thanks to the penderi managers for all your support I really appreciated it, and lastly to all our patients thank you for your kind wishes and messages to myself, I am sure you will be well looked after in your new surgeries. Some pharmacies provide a sore throat test and treat service for those aged six and over and a list of those taking part can be found below.

The pharmacist will ask you questions to decide if you need a throat swab.

Not everyone will need one.

If it's likely you have a viral infection, which does not require antibiotics, a test won't be necessary and the pharmacist will give you self-care advice.

Please note this is not a strep A screening service.

We advise you to ring the pharmacy before travelling to check whether a pharmacist who can provide the service is available and whether you are suitable for the service.

URGENT – Severe Weather update on health services in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. Please be aware that because of the severe red weather warning issued for Friday, 18th February, all non-urgent NHS appointments are being cancelled in the Swansea Bay area tomorrow.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but this is being done to keep people safe and avoid the risk of injury travelling to our sites.

Hospital Inpatients and Outpatients (including diagnostic tests):

Only the most clinically urgent patients will be seen, and these individuals will be contacted directly by the hospital to confirm their appointment. However, if the severe weather at the time you are due to travel to hospital puts you at high risk of injury from flying debris, very strong gusts etc, please do not attend and we will rearrange your care asap.

If you have a face-to-face appointment or scheduled operation and do not hear from us, then your appointment has been cancelled. Please do not attend. We will be in touch with you as soon as possible to rearrange it.

Digital online consultations will still be held, but there may be some disruption if some staff are unavailable.

Community Services and Primary Care:

All non-urgent face-to-face appointments, including district nursing, GP and dental appointments are cancelled, but digital consultations will continue. Patients will be contacted as soon as possible to rearrange appointments.

Blood tests:

All non-urgent blood test appointments are cancelled. The Phlebotomy service at the Bay Field Hospital will be closed tomorrow. Patients will be contacted as soon as possible to make new arrangements for their blood test.

Vaccinations:

All our vaccination sites, including the Bay Field Hospital, are closed tomorrow

Covid-19 testing:

ALL test centres, including Fabian Way, Baglan, Milland Road and the mobile units are closed tomorrow.

Can you pick up your relative tonight?

If you have a family member in hospital who is ready for discharge, can you collect them this evening? This will be much safer than doing this tomorrow.

28/01/2022

Please continue to follow the rules in all healthcare settings.
