VOLUNTEER BIRTH & POSTNATAL PARTNERS NEEDED
Do you feel passionate that all women should be supported through birth? Are you able to offer up some time to provide compassionate birth partner support to women who would otherwise birth alone? The Birth Partner Project is a new organisation which believes “no woman needs birth alone” and provides training and support to volunteers who accompany women as their birth partner and to offer friendly support and friendship in the weeks after the birth.
We are seeking volunteers that can either volunteer to be on-call for births or can offer set times each month/week to visit new families. Training will be provided to give you the confidence and skills to be a useful birth partner and maintain safeguarding and other legal requirements. All volunteers will be required to undertake a DBS check and attend a weekend training course and will be supervised and supported by experienced volunteers and trained Doulas. Volunteer roles would suit those looking to gain experience in the maternity setting/working with asylum seekers and refugees, or those who can offer regular amounts of time to join an on-call or postnatal visiting rota. We are currently seeking volunteers who can easily travel to Cardiff (University Hospital of Wales) though we will be looking for volunteers in Swansea and Newport shortly so please register your interest.
Please contact The Birth Partner Project for more information and to register your interest/receive a volunteer intake form at info@birthpartnerproject.org.
