Hi everybody โ Ellen here ๐ Today weโre putting the sass aside for a moment, because this is urgent.
The cat shelter in the town of Guardamar, (just next to Torrevieja) is in urgent need of volunteers. So much so that theyโve had to completely pause taking in kittens, TNR, and put some other life-saving work on hold. And that hurts. A lot.
This shelter โ yes, that state-of-the-art one that half the region secretly envies โ does an incredible job for hundreds of cats every year. But hereโs the thing nobody likes to talk about: a shelter doesnโt run on good intentions alone. It runs on people.
The shelter is operated by Animalia Protecciรณn Animal, with some support from the local council in Guardamar and donors like your selves. Truth is, funding is tighter than ever, but right now the biggest problem is hands. Human hands. Volunteers. ๐๐พ
They need animal-loving people who can commit a few hours on a regular basis to help with:
โข Feeding
โข Medicating
โข Cleaning
โข Socialising
โข Trapping
โข Vet visits
โข Transport
โข Fundraising
โข Adoptions
โฆand all the other unglamorous, unfiltered, absolutely essential bits of animal rescue.
The shelter currently has 120 resident cats and an amazing adoption record โ cats are heading to their forever homes almost every day. And you know what makes that happen? Someone showing up, rolling up their sleeves, and getting stuck in.
