St John Ambulance Cymru

St John Ambulance Cymru The Facebook account for volunteers in Gower. We provide cover at home games of Swansea City FC and Ospreys Rugby at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea.

St John Mumbles Division serves the Mumbles and surrounding areas of Swansea with First Aid services at public events. Our volunteers receive weekly training and annual assessment which enables them to go on duty and attend public events as a first aider. You will also see our volunteers on duty at concerts and other public events in Singleton Park, Oystermouth Castle, on the Gower and on Mumbles Waterfront. St John Mumbles Division is very proud to be training our next generation of life-savers. We have two youth groups for young people to join and learn all about first aid and have some fun at the same time. St John Mumbles Badgers is our youth group for 5-10 year olds and our St John Mumbles Cadet group is for 10-17 year olds.

Today, we were proud to attend an event at Senedd Cymru marking a significant milestone for Wales and for organ donation across the UK.

On December 1, we celebrate 10 years since Wales became the first nation in the UK to introduce a deemed consent system for organ donation, a pioneering approach that has since been adopted across the rest of the country. This landmark change has helped save and transform countless lives.

Each year, this special carol service is organised to raise money to support the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group.

The group is the only charitable provider of expert eye care in the Middle East, treating patients regardless of ethnicity, religion or the ability to pay.

In recent years the group's work has become even more vital and since the conflict started, it has treated 63,532 patients, of whom 6,839 need major sight-saving surgery in extremely difficult conditions.

Click the link in the comments to book your ticket for this special service and help raise much needed funds, or to find out more about the group's work, visit the St John Eye Hospital page.

On we pay tribute our children and young people and the work they do with their dedicated Youth Leaders, learning new skills & working towards realising their potential.

But it's not all about first aid, our Badgers and Cadets cover a variety of subjects!

This year, 375 of our Cadets have completed the newly-designed Youth Empowerment subject as part of our Grand Prior Programme, which the Cadets themselves helped design as part of a collaboration with the Children’s Commissioner for Wales.

We continue to develop our programmes based on feedback from our children and young people and the highlights of our annual Investiture and Visitation services are awarding our Badgers and Cadets with their certificates to recognise their achievements.
