We are proud to announce that Liz Rugg has been appointed as our new Executive Director. She took over management in July and will be overseeing an ambitious growth strategy aimed at strengthening the hospital’s self-pay and insured markets, alongside the completion of a multimillion-pound expansion programme. About her new role, Liz said:

“The Ridgeway Hospital has an incredible reputation for the quality of care it delivers to thousands of patients each year. I am excited to be leading the team during what is an exciting chapter in the history of the hospital. I look forward to working closely with teams across the hospital and Circle Health Group, harnessing all our skills and experience to take the hospital to new heights in the months and years ahead.”

Meet Mr Lawrence – A Leader in Surgical Excellence

With over three decades of experience, Mr Lawrence brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to patient care.

🎓 He qualified from Glasgow University in 1983, earned his FRCS in 1987, and pursued advanced surgical training and laser research at University College Hospital, London. His journey continued through the Wessex Rotation, working in Portsmouth, Southampton, and Bournemouth.

Since 1996, Mr Lawrence has served as a Consultant General Surgeon in Swindon, making a lasting impact on both patients and peers.

📚 A passionate educator, he has been an MRCS Examiner since 1999, both in the UK and internationally. He now leads as the Director of Surgical Examinations for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and played a key role in redesigning the MRCS exam in 2004.

We’re proud to introduce Mr Alexander, a highly skilled consultant with a distinguished career in General and Colore**al Surgery.

Graduating with Distinction and Honours from the University of Southampton Medical School in 2001, Mr Alexander went on to complete specialist training across Wessex and South West Thames Deaneries — including advanced re**al cancer surgery at Basingstoke and laparoscopic training in Portsmouth.

Before joining us at the Ridgeway Hospital, he was awarded a prestigious National Laparoscopic Colore**al Fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital, gaining expertise in robotic surgery and trans-anal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS/TEO).
