🖌️ Virtual V&A Make-along 🎨

In celebration of National Day of Arts in Care Homes, residents and patients across the country enjoyed a wonderful V&A Virtual Make-along experience with Holly from the V&A Learning team and designer-artist Rafin Jannat.

Taking inspiration from the South Asia Gallery at the museum, everyone had the chance to experiment with paints and pigments made from everyday ingredients, creating their own unique artworks.

It was a calming, creative experience that everyone truly enjoyed. A big thank you to the Victoria and Albert Museum team for leading such an inspiring session!

Another successful community disco!

The residents at White Lodge Care Home had Community Disco this afternoon with all time classic hits from 1950's, 60's & 70's played by White Horse Rock and Roll.

We can't thank enough the volunteers from white horse rock and roll for their time and effort to make the afternoon special for our residents. Sharing a laugh, a dance, or a song with fellow residents helped building a sense of community and strengthens social bonds.

We are going to continue our Community Disco every month. our next Disco is on Wednesday 29th Oct at 2.30pm. see you again!

In the Best Use of Technology category, our new Connex CRM system, powered by Salesforce, has been recognised for transforming how we manage every customer interaction – making the care journey seamless.

Taking the advantage of the weather, the residents at White Lodge care home went out in the garden enjoyed a visit from Bryan, the miniature horse and Laura of Happy Hooves Equine Ltd - Equine Assisted Therapy & Transport

Residents were encouraged to stroke, groom, or simply spend quiet time with Bryan. Interactions that often lead to visible emotional responses and moments of deep connection. We all are waiting for their next visit in Christmas!

🎉 Lotus Manor is Now Open 🎉

We’re excited to share that Lotus Manor Care Home in has opened its doors in style, with a Grand Opening performed by the Deputy Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Jane Tyson, in front of invited guests from the local community.

Our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, and General Manager, Candy Guo, hosted the event and invited guests to view the stunning new 64-bed care home.

Designed with residents’ comfort in mind, Lotus Manor Care Home will offer residential support, respite stays and specialist dementia care, all delivered by a dedicated and passionate team of trained professionals.

The residents at White Lodge are delighted to be a part of the ''Swindon's art in care homes 2025'' project organized by Julia, supported by Nyree Public Health Swindon-Healthy Ageing Inc. Dementia.

The project is about getting the residents from 18 care homes of Swindon to paint few pieces of a 9 feet long art project and getting all the pieces together at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon.

The residents got creative with the colours, they use their imagination to fill the tiles in, breaking the boundaries. few of the family members joined in and contributed in the project as well. The residents are eagerly waiting for the big reveal day where we will be able to see the whole art project.

🚑 Celebrating Emergency Services Day 🚒👏

Residents, patients, colleagues and visitors marked this year’s Emergency Services Day in style, recognising the contribution of local emergency services, volunteers and heroes.

Our homes and hospitals hosted a variety of community events, from coffee mornings to afternoon garden parties, inviting emergency services personnel to join for hot drinks and delicious home-made cakes.

Everyone had a wonderful time, visiting local emergency services sites, engaging in conversations and sharing inspirational stories of emergency services heroes, both past and present.

✨ Celebrating Veteran-friendly Status ✨

Staff and residents at Wimborne Care Home in are celebrating because the home has achieved veteran-friendly status!

Wimborne has strong links to the military and is home to several ex-servicemen and women. At the start of 2025, the home proudly pledged its support to the Veteran-Friendly Framework and has been working towards Veteran-Friendly Status ever since in order to best serve its military residents and their families.

The Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) was launched in October 2023, with the aim of tackling loneliness and isolation, and delivering improved health and wellbeing for over 25,000 veterans living in care homes across England.

Sarah Peach, General Manager at Wimborne Care Home, commented: “There are eight different standards to work through in order to achieve Veteran Friendly Status so you do need to be committed. But if like me and my team, you are passionate then it is a joy to complete and very informative. We have all loved doing it, meeting new people and taking part in charity events for veterans. We all thought it was an important step for a home like ours with so many links to the military and I know our team are delighted that we have been able to do this for our residents and their loved ones.”

Our Tell Barchester Annual Survey is LIVE!

For the 5th consecutive year, our annual customer satisfaction survey Tell Barchester is OPEN!

The survey gives our residents, patients, their friends and family the opportunity to tell us how they feel about their experience, helping us learn, improve and celebrate what people love about life at Barchester.

Residents and patients are able to complete the survey with our teams, invitations to take part are emailed to all friends & family members we have contact details for – have you received yours? It’s also possible to take part in our homes and hospitals using the QR posters on display.

Tell Barchester is quick and simple to complete, your time is much appreciated and this feedback shapes the care and service received across Barchester.

In the meantime, if you have feedback you would like to share you can talk to us at any point, our door is always open.

The residents at White Lodge had a wonderful afternoon with the performance from 'Thames Down Ladies Choir''. They set a magical atmosphere at the home by taking us back to the musical era of 1960's and 1970's. We cant wait to have another visit from you!

The residents at White Lodge became very competitive this morning while playing a friendly volleyball game in the lounge. Discovering the energy, the residents have proposed to have a senior sports club to run weekly! We would like to have suggestions on indoor games that are wheelchair friendly!

✨🎭 Bringing the Fringe to Strachan House ✨🎵

Residents, families and visitors at Strachan House Care Home in enjoyed an afternoon of fantastic performances as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Care Fest.

Now in its third year, the Fringe Care Fest brings the magic of the Fringe directly to care home residents who can no longer visit the festival venues.

Talented singer and pianist Jacqui Randa warmed up the crowd with her excellent keyboard skills and cheeky anecdotes. After a short break for more prosecco in the sun, everyone relaxed to the wonderful voice of Duane Forrest.

It was an amazing experience, complete with a special party menu from the home’s kitchen team, plenty of drinks – and of course, lots of dancing.

A big thank you to all involved in making this event such a success. 👏

We’re thrilled to share that Iverley View Care Home in has received a 10 out of 10 score on the independent care home reviews site, carehome.co.uk, after a series of glowing reviews.

This fantastic achievement places Iverley View 7th out of 7,238 care homes across England and 1st in their county.

A big thank you to the team who work incredibly hard to provide the highest standard of care and support to residents and their families. Truly well deserved. 👏

White Lodge Dog Show 2025!

White Lodge care home hosted a dog show to mark International Dog Day and spread some cheer among the residents and the community. there were near about 30 dogs including residents, pet as therapy dogs and a few from the local community took part in the event.

The competition had 10 categories, including Best Trick, Waggiest Tail, Prettiest Girl and Handsome Dog. the participants took a round in front of the residents and the residents voted for the dogs and the most number of votes decided the winners. The winning dogs were given a goodie bag which included dog treats, biscuits made by the residents and a rosette!

A very special thank you to Claire, Jenny and Chris to volunteer for the event. We couldn't do it without you! We are very pleased to say we raised £109 for the charity ''pet as therapy'', they are a community of pet owners bringing joy to people in hospitals, care homes, schools and more.

White Lodge is a pet friendly care home and we like to get the community involved in various activities and events, keep an eye on our page for our upcoming community events such as horse therapy, intergenerational session, Community Disco, MacMillan coffee morning.
