The launch of our Care Skills Academy last month was a huge step in our mission for growth, development and skill within our wonderful sector. The Academy has already made huge progress in fostering a learning and continuous improvement culture, and today we're sharing the story of one of our own 💫

Amy joined Home Instead last year having never worked in care before, and she's now a Senior Care Professional. Her growth, and the fact she was a finalist in this years Oxfordshire Care Awards(!), shows how much we truly value her ability and development. 💚

When appetite is low in winter, a small, warm dessert can be an easy way to encourage eating without preparing a full meal. These Mini Lemon Sponge Puddings are soft, light, ready in minutes, and delicious!

They’re also a good recipe for older adults who want to stay hands-on in the kitchen, as each step is straightforward and doesn’t require long periods of standing.

Ingredients:
Butter, caster sugar, lemon zest and juice, 1 egg, self-raising flour, lemon curd or jam, custard or cream.

Method:
1. Grease the ramekins.
2. Mix the butter, sugar and lemon zest, then add the egg and flour.
3. Spoon the mixture halfway into each ramekin and cover loosely.
4. Microwave for about 70 seconds, then allow to rest.
5. Turn out and top with lemon curd or jam.

This week is PEAQ week! Our annual surveys have been sent to clients, Care Professionals and our Key Players over the past couple of weeks - and this week we’ve gotten into the party spirit with balloons, bunting and lots of cake! During PEAQ week we support our team to complete surveys and today it coincided with our monthly CarePro drop in cuppa, and we had a lovely group come in for some fun social time - which is really necessary for our amazing, lone working team 💫

Whether you’d like a hand using your phone, tablet, or laptop, or just fancy a cuppa and a chat, we’d love to see you there. Our friendly volunteers can help with everything from sending photos to family to using video calls to navigating online forms.

It’s a relaxed space for older adults to gain confidence with technology, meet new people, and connect with their community.

🥳🤶🎁"Be a Santa" charitable campaign 2025 is launched! 🎁🎅🏿🥳

Each year we ask for gifts to distribute to local seniors who need a bit of Christmas cheer. This year the gifts will go to elderly patients at Great Western Hospital, and we're bringing a singer to entertain them and the staff on Monday 15th December. We are asking for donations of blankets (either handmade or bought and chocolates to make them a cozy Christmas gift. Please join us by donating a gift (items from just £3) from our Amazon Wishlist (QR Code in the poster).
