Tips for Learning.

Many of our students are returning to education after years away from school. Learning something new (especially something difficult like Anatomy and Physiology) can feel very daunting. Here's a few tips for you, written by Maisey

* Buy yourself an exercise book/notebook and write a glossary of terms. Every time you come across a new word/term, add it to your A-Z. It makes revising and testing yourself much easier.

* Use post-it notes for brief information.

* Read it, write it, say it. When we actively do something with the information, it is much more likely to stay with us.

* Draw diagrams (however simple they look)

* Make acronyms - for example SHAPES explains the functions of the skin (secretion, heat, absorption, protection, elimination, sensation)

* Use index cards for brief bullet points (especially if you are learning a new routine)

* Record or film yourself so you can keep listening/watching.

* Keep sessions to around 20 minutes to maintain concentration.

* Create a study plan and try to stick to it.
