Nothing is: time to exist, relax, contemplate, gaze at the sky and just BE. We have become HUMAN DOINGS RATHER THAN HUMAN BEINGS.

When we go about our daily living we are constantly in either doing mode or being mode.

Doing mode is when we are trapped in our head, preoccupied with the past or future. We are planning what's ahead or focused on what has been. This often brings with it a whole host of emotions. Human doing mode is all about action, accomplishment and productivity. While important, it often leads to a constant chase for external validation and a neglect of our inner selves.

Being mode involves disengaging from a busy mind to fully focus on the present moment and sensory experiences. Being mode is allowing things to be as they are already. When you stop trying to change things, paradoxically they change by themselves. As Carl Jung said: "We cannot change anything until we accept it."

Both being and doing are necessary at different times; however, modern cultural values dictate that doing is more important than being and often being is frowned upon as being lazy. Therefore, most of us spend too much time in doing mode and very little time appreciating our core experiences in the present moment.

However, doing mode often tries to take over, emphasising the need for balance between focus's concentration and the peace of being. Balance is key: Striking a balance between being and doing is crucial for our wellbeing. It's about finding moments of stillness amidst the hustle, where we can connect with ourselves and find clarity.

👉Remember, you are not defined solely by your actions or achievements. Your worth lies in your essence, your being.

"Make the best use of what's in your
power, and take the rest as it happens" - Epictetus

The circle of control symbolises the areas where we can take meaningful action and make a positive difference, letting go of things we cannot control.

It's a concept that refers to focusing on the things in our lives which we have the power to change or influence, for example - thoughts, emotions and reactions. It's a way of reflecting upon our lives and the responsibilities we have which are within our control.

Shifting into this perspective allows us to reduce a significant amount of stress, anxiety and worry. This allows us instead to channel our energy and time towards things that we can actually change.

If you would like to explore what's in your control for lasting change, please reach out.

Our self image forms the foundation
of who we are. It's the organised set of beliefs about ourselves, including what we value and can do.

Though it doesn't always align with reality. We strive for congruence between our self image and our ideal self, who we aspire to be. The closer these two align, the more congruent we are. This promotes a higher sense of self worth.

When we let external standards dictate our behaviour, we create a gap between our true selves and our perceived selves. This incongruence inhibits our ability for growth and authenticity. This leads to setting unrealistic standards for our ideal self, which can bring feelings of inadequacy creating a lower sense of self worth.

If any of the above resonates with you, please reach out.
