Interestingly, how you think about back pain can have a significant impact on your experience. Holding onto unhelpful beliefs may lead to increased pain, more disability, longer time away from work, and even more reliance on medication and healthcare services.

A massive shout out to Dan from Swindon Sports Therapy who has donated 3hrs of his time to make sure that Darren is fit for Brighton Marathon.

Head for Twickenham has been completed!

With abysmal weather, severely flooded roads, several punctured tyres and changing a car tyre for an elderly couple they have arrived two days later.

They can now look forward to watching the England v Wales match tomorrow.

With marathon season just around the corner, here are some essential tips to keep you injury-free as your training ramps up:

Rest: Prioritise recovery between runs to prevent overuse injuries. Avoid consecutive days of running, especially if you're new to marathon training. Listen to your body and consider dropping a run if you're feeling any niggles.

Cross-Train: Engage in activities like swimming or yoga to keep your body moving while giving your running muscles a break. Choose activities you enjoy to make cross-training a positive addition to your routine.

Stay Calm: Long training runs can be intimidating, but stressing about them only makes them harder. Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing to calm your nervous system and ease your mind.

Nutrition: Fuel your body with nutritious foods to support recovery and reduce the risk of injury. While I'm not a nutrition expert, ensuring a well-balanced diet throughout your training is essential for optimal performance.

Remember, staying injury-free is key to reaching your marathon goals. Prioritise rest, incorporate cross-training, maintain a calm mindset, and fuel your body properly. You've got this!
