A quick fact you might not know about me
I have four science degrees, including a Master of Science in Clinical Obesity & Weight Management.

Quick science drop for you.

A client asked me:
‘Why is it that after a cheat meal or processed food, I wake up at night absolutely drenched in sweat?’

Here’s what’s happening 👇

Highly processed foods are usually high in sugar, salt, and refined carbohydrates.
This causes a rapid spike in blood glucose, followed by a sharp insulin response.

When blood sugar then drops during the night, your body releases stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol to stabilise it, and one of the side effects is night sweats.

Add to that:
• Increased thermic effect of food
• Higher inflammation
• Sodium causing fluid shifts
• Your liver working overtime to process everything

Your body temperature rises… and you sweat.

So it’s not random, it’s a physiological stress response.

This is why food quality matters, not just calories.

Your body always gives you feedback you just have to listen 💡

Today at Absolutely Fit Studio, our Head Coach and Health Scientist, Manjit Singh Dol, had the pleasure of working with a Swindon under-7 tennis athlete with truly impressive potential.

Alyna is only 7 and she competes in the under 9s 😳😱

At just 7 years old, she already demonstrates excellent strength, coordination, core control and movement awareness. The session focused on foundational movement patterns, core stability, and early-stage explosive power mechanics, building the ability to move well before moving fast or powerful.

For Manjit, it was great to return to explosive power and coordination-based coaching, an area he hasn’t worked in since 2019 after several years focused heavily on body transformation coaching.

Sessions like this are a powerful reminder of how important early, well-guided movement development is.

She is strong, focused, and highly coachable, and we’re genuinely excited to support her athletic journey in a safe, positive, and age-appropriate way.

A huge well done to her and her family for investing in her long-term development 👏

Quick one it’s the beginning of January, and if you’re feeling a bit sluggish after all the fun, processed Christmas food, this is why we spoke about fibre today.

Fibre in your nutrition slows digestion, stabilises blood sugar, feeds your gut bacteria, and helps switch your body back into fat-burning mode.

When fibre is low, hunger and cravings go up.
When fibre is high, digestion improves and energy comes back.
