🐝 Bee Update! 🐝

So our sponsored bee hives have been up and running for 6 months!

We have tasted some of the most amazing honey from them and really pleased to be supporting the bee keeping association and the bee population.

A quick catch up with Barry the bee keeper last week informed us that he is getting winter ready and checking their store levels.
Here’s to them doing ok during the winter months.

It’s Su***de Prevention Month — and we need to talk about tinnitus.

In the UK, it’s estimated that about 1 in 7 adults have tinnitus. That’s over 7 million adults.

This is a reminder to look out for those quietly suffering.

Tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, or other persistent sounds in the ears) is more than an annoyance for many people: it can cause chronic sleep loss, anxiety and depression, and in some cases contribute to suicidal thinking. That’s why awareness matters.

If you are struggling with your tinnitus and would like to talk to someone and understand more about it, call us and book a consultation with David. His years of experience and expertise can help you today.

If someone is in immediate danger, please call emergency services.
If they need someone to listen now you can contact Samaritans for free, 24/7: 116 123. More contact options available on their site.
British Tinnitus Association (helpline and support): 0800 018 0527 (helpline, web chat, text/email options).

A great article from Starkey, one of the world’s leading hearing aid manufacturers answering some of the day to day questions we get asked in clinic.

How long do hearing aids last - on average approximately 5 years (give or take depending on how well you look after them!)

Why should you upgrade your hearing aids?
1 - Technology gets better each year
2 - Your Hearing changes as you get older
3 - The new technology provides added boost and benefits such as falls detection, streaming calls and even language translation!

Remember, you can try before you buy with a 2 week trial!

If you’d like to know, please contact us 🙂

🚜🐄 Backing British Farming 🐄🚜

At Reed’s Hearing Care, we’re proud to support British farming. With Laura living right next to a dairy farm, we see first-hand the dedication, hard work, and challenges our farmers face every day. From early mornings to late nights, their efforts keep our communities thriving.

Just like farming, hearing is something we often take for granted—until it becomes a challenge. Being able to hear clearly keeps us connected to conversations, loved ones, and the world around us.

That’s why we’re here: to make sure your hearing is cared for with the same dedication farmers give to their land, crops and animals. 🌾👂

Let’s celebrate and support those who work tirelessly to put food on our tables—because good hearing, like good farming, is worth looking after ❤️

Let us introduce the team 🙂

David Reed has worked as a Consultant Audiologist within the NHS Great Western Hospital and in the private sector for over 50 years. Through his hands on experience and continued learning, there is not much that David hasn’t seen, or heard, in relation to ears! In his spare time, he enjoys tinkering with his traction engine and is a member of the Freemasons.

Laura (who is David’s Daughter-in-Law) trained as a Nurse qualifying in 2010, spent time in A&E before becoming an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and joining Ramsbury and Wanborough GP Surgery. Alongside this, Laura joined Reeds Hearing Care in 2022, training as a Hearing Aid Dispenser in order to continue the family business.

Laura lives in Wanborough with her Husband Nicholas, and their two children. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, baking and socialising with friends and family.

Reeds Hearing Care is a family run business founded in 1974, based in Swindon and provides advice and support on hearing difficulties, wax removal, tinnitus, supplies the latest in hearing aid technology and hearing protection.

So if you’d like to meet us and you think we could help, get it touch today and we look forward to hearing from you soon 😀

Do you know how to look after your hearing aids? 🦻

Hearing aid manintence is key to keeping your devices working properly and delivering clear, consistent sound. It involves regular cleaning, battery replacement or charging, and storing them in a dry environment.

Staying consistent with maintenance not only extends the life of your hearing aids but also ensures a smoother, more reliable hearing experience every day.

🐝 Sweet News from Reed’s Hearing Care! 🍯

We’re buzzing with excitement to share that our bee-friendly initiative has paid off! 🐝🌼

This year, thanks to Reed’s Hearing Care sponsoring land for local beekeeping together with Barry the local bee keeper, we’ve nurtured thriving hives and harvested our first successful yield of golden, local honey! 🍯🐝

Why bees? Because just like hearing health, a healthy planet matters. Bees are vital to our ecosystem, and supporting them supports everyone.

A huge thank you again to our incredible Barry the bee keeper who helped make this possible. Stay tuned—we may just have a few jars of this sweet success to sell at our clinic soon 🍯 🐝

It’s National Dog Day 🐶

And where would we be without them?

Hearing dogs for the deaf 🧏 give people their lives, confidence and independence back so thank you to all who train them and support the charity 🥰

This day is for the dogs. 🐶

Happy from your friends at Starkey!

Pets are a leading cause of hearing aid repairs. When you're not wearing them, make sure your hearing aids are stored in a place that can’t be easily accessed by pets to help keep Fido feeling fine and your ears hearing their best.
