🚨 PRIDE Window competition🚨

We would like to invite all businesses and organisations to decorate your windows and buildings for the month of August, to show your support for Swindon and Wiltshire Pride.

Although our LGBTQ+ Festival can't go ahead this year we still wanted to celebrate by bringing back our Pride window competition. Pictured below are our runner's up from last year Sarah Belle Bridal

There will be a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place so be sure to submit your photos to us and download the official Pride sign to put in your PRIDE window to be entered via website

Speak to your employer, local businesses and get involved. Think big, think rainbow flags, a message of diversity and lots of colour. Create a display to be proud of and good luck 😍🏳️‍🌈

Today is International Non-binary People’s Day, which aims to celebrate the wide range of people worldwide who identify as non-binary. But do you know what it means to be non-binary? And do you know how you can better support non-binary people? Here are some ideas!

Most intersex surgeries to change ge***alia happen at under age 2. All are irreversible, and by definition non-vital. (Not necessary to save a life, e.g. allowing urination in the first place.)

But parents or caregivers are very rarely told this information. Surgery is usually positioned as a social emergency by the doctors or hospital teams recommending it. Children in the custody of the state are particularly vulnerable. For parents, guardians, and advocates, the questions to ask are, 1) "what are the risks?" 2) "what happens if I do nothing?" It's always okay to seek community support and a second opinion on ge***al surgery.⁣

We're changing this, alongside awesome youth advocates like Banti. Make sure you're signed up for emails about our bill, SB 201 in California, here: http://ow.ly/PGs050wIPky 💛💜

Hi Everyone
My thanks to all who joined us for our 30th celebrations last night and made it such a stonking success. A huge welcome to all the newcomers as well as the return of some familiar faces. Add to that our raffle raised a fabulous £51 pounds for MNDA, a worthy tribute to one of our founding members, I think.
My thanks to Dec, Maddie and Becki for helping organise last night’s event.
Next month is our AGM, I will do my best to keep that short so we can do what we do best and support each other.

Hi Everyone,

My thanks to everyone who attended the February meeting, especially Rebecca for taking the role as secretary to take notes. As we covered a lot of group items this month it may have seemed like a bit of a mini AGM. Anyway, I thought it best to write a brief coverage of the things we covered.

New room – it was carried by a group vote to remain in the room we currently use.

We are now able to keep a small amount of stock for refreshments at the centre.

Transpride Brighton and camp 20th July 2019 – as we usually gather at a camp site in Sussex on the Friday afternoon Rebecca is going to inquire about whether we can have an all-together pitch. Therefore, it is vital if anyone interested in joining us lets either Rebecca or myself know asap.

STG 30th Anniversary – We will be celebrating our 30 years at the October meeting (Saturday 12 October 2019 – for those who need to plan their diaries). A unanimous vote was carried for the cake to be a Trans flag so I will get on to Phil, our lovely cake maker, so he can work on a design.

The October AGM has been postponed to November to allow for the anniversary celebrations.

We also discussed a second night a month as a social evening. As such Dec and I will be arranging something for March to kick this off. See our Facebook group for details.

The general idea is any member can run a social event and invite the group to join in. I have interlinked with Bristol and Bath Cordial (BBC again, but with a rather unique testcard) which has both Alison and Janella on the admin.

Thank you for reading, and always thank you for your support in making our group a fantastic support network.

The next meeting is Saturday 9 March 2019

I look forward to seeing you
