Shine With Reiki Community

Shine With Reiki Community Traditional Japanese Style Reiki Reiki is the Art of healing, restoring Balance and good Health using the form of Qi (chi) energy.

Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). Fired by a burning question, Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student. There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed. All practioners receive an "attunement" in order to be able to give Reiki which promotes calm and relaxation and spiritual, mental and physical health can be improved and maintained. What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is, in its simplest translation, universal life energy. It is referred to in other cultures as "chi", "prana", or "spirit". It is the life force that exists in all things. The practice of Reiki is the art and science of channelling this universal life energy, or force, to promote spiritual, mental, and physical well-being.

Reiki involves directing the natural flow of ki (universal energy) to build up the individual’s energy resources. A good analogy is to liken to recharging a battery. Reiki works much the same way. If you are suffering from an illness (physical, mental, or spiritual), this is an indication that your energy supply is lessened; Reiki works to assist your body/mind in building your energy level back up to its optimum level and promoting its natural flow, enhancing your own natural healing powers. As Reiki practitioners are trained to channel energy from the universe, not from their personal supply, they do not suffer from energy depletion.

Reiki is also helpful in reducing stress, aiding relaxation, and restoring energy, and is not just used when there is dis-ease.

Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered Reiki in the mid-nineteenth century. Reiki is recognised as being an ancient method of healing that is based on a system of symbols (keys) that trigger the channelling of ki. One of Dr. Usui’s seminary students once challenged him to show how healing with touch could be done Finding that he could not prove this through demonstration, Dr. Usui began the quest that would take him all over the world in search of information on healing with ki. Finally, in Tibet, he found what he had been searching for, written in ancient texts - the keys to healing with touch, as well as the precise information for applying them.

Among the selected few that Dr. Usui taught this method was Chujiro Hayashi. It is Hayashi who taught Reiki to Mrs. Hawayo Takata. Mrs. Takata brought the Usui system of Reiki to the United States in the 1930's.

Reiki Treatment

With the client (fully clothed) lying down on a therapy bed, using a series of carefully orchestrated touch patterns, the Reiki practitioner begins treatment at the head and gradually moves down the body, placing the hands in pre-determined, positions. The client is then turned over and the process is repeated, again working from the head to the feet. The hands are held in each position for three to five minutes, giving time for the healing energy to be channelled through the practitioner to the client.
A full Reiki treatment usually takes approximately one hour. The amount of ki (energy) transferred is dependant on the client's needs as well as their ability to accept the healing. Reiki is more akin to "laying on of hands" rather than being a massage technique, the touch should be gentle with little or no pressure applied. Reiki is not a religious belief and is not related to any specific religious beliefs or dogma, it is the channelling of the energy of the universe.
During Reiki treatment, some people experience warmth from the touch of the practitioner, feeling heat entering and permeating their being. Others feel a flowing , tingling, or pulsing sensation that is sometimes likened to the flow of warm water or a mild electric current. The most common description is that its effects are warming, relaxing, calming, bringing a sense of tranquillity and well-being.
Reiki energy works to help you stay healthy by balancing and maintaining the flow of ki. If there is illness, injury, or stress, Reiki can assist the body’s ability to heal itself. Everyone can benefit from Reiki.

Instead of saying, "I know what it feels like", how about "I can't imagine your heartbreak".

Instead of saying, "You're strong, you'll get through this, how about " You'll hurt, and I'll be here.

Instead of saying, "You look like you're doing well, how about, "How are you holding up today?"

Instead of saying, "Healing takes time", how about "Healing has no timeline".

Instead of saying, "Everything happens for a reason, how about "This must feel terribly senseless right now".

And when there are no words to say at all, you don't need to try and find some. Love speaks in silences too.

Most people listen just to reply.

They’re not really hearing you, they’re just waiting for their turn to talk.

But the people who change you, the people you remember, they listen to understand.

They don’t just hear your words, they hear you.

And that’s the difference between connection and noise

Don’t force your place in someone’s life.

If someone wants you there, you’ll know.
You won’t have to keep trying to matter.
You won’t feel like you’re bothering them just by being yourself.

You won’t be the only one holding it all together.
You won’t sit there wondering what changed
or why it suddenly feels so distant.

People make time for what matters to them.
If they care, they show it.
If they don’t, they don’t.

And yeah, it hurts.
But trying to hold on when you’re the only one trying
hurts even more.

You shouldn’t have to shrink yourself to fit in.
You shouldn’t have to prove your worth to feel accepted.

The right people won’t make you question where you stand.
They’ll make it clear.
In how they show up,
how they stay,
and how they make you feel seen without asking for it.

Let your presence be a quiet gift,
not something you have to convince anyone to keep.

You’re not a burden.
You never were.
And the people meant for you won’t need reminding.

They called you the black sheep.
Not because you were wrong — but because you were different.

While the herd followed the path without question, you paused, looked up, listened to the wind
and whispered, “there must be another way.”

The black sheep don’t blend in.
Not because they can’t…
But because they won’t.

They’ve seen too many cliffs disguised as traditions. Too many cages called “normal.”

So they step out, alone maybe, but awake.

They ruffle feathers, stir waters, break silence
and sometimes — they build the bridges the flock never knew it needed.

To every black sheep out there:
You are the quiet revolution.
The shift in the pattern.
The wild note in the chorus.

You don’t need to fit in.
You were born to stand out — and lead forward ❤️

PARENTS, PAY ATTENTION!!!
A teacher was grading her students’ homework.
Meanwhile, her husband was walking around the house glued to his smartphone, immersed in his favourite game.
When she got to the last assignment, the teacher quietly began to cry.

Her husband noticed and asked:
— What happened?

She replied:
— Yesterday, I gave my students a writing assignment: "MY WISH."

The husband said:
— Okay, but why are you crying?

Holding back tears, the wife answered:
— While correcting the last paper, I couldn’t help but cry.

Curious, the husband asked:
— What was written that was so emotional?

The wife began to read:

My wish is to become a smartphone.
My parents love their smartphone very much.
They take care of their smartphone so well that sometimes they forget to take care of me.
When my dad comes home tired from work, he has time for his smartphone, but not for me.
When my parents are doing something important and the phone rings, they answer it immediately—
but they don’t do the same with me, even when I’m crying.
They play with their phones, but not with me.
When they’re talking to someone on the phone, they don’t listen to me, even when I’m saying something important.
So my wish is to become a smartphone.

After hearing those words, the husband was deeply moved and asked:
— Who wrote that essay?

The wife, with teary eyes, replied:
— OUR SON.

PARENTS, remember this:
Electronic devices are helpful, but they are meant to make our lives easier—
not to replace love for our family and the people we care about.
Children see and feel everything happening around them.
Their experiences shape their minds and leave marks that last a lifetime.
Let’s care for them, so they grow up with the right values and without false needs.

If you're married and keep separate finances, you're not a team—you're just roommates with wedding rings.

Married couples need to budget their money together. You’re married. You’re not roommates. Money shouldn’t be a “me” thing, it should be a “we” thing.

I do not have an income. My wife and I have an income. It’s as much hers as it is mine—spiritually, morally, and legally. It’s not MINE, it’s OURS.

When you change your language like that, it forces you set goals together. It forces you to dream together. It forces you to carry the weight together. It forces you to communicate. It creates a level of unity that nothing else will do.

Men don’t realize that most women don’t fall out of love overnight, and they definitely don’t fall out of love because of another man. It’s not someone else stepping in that breaks her heart — it’s you stepping back. It’s the missed calls, the forgotten efforts, the way you stopped looking at her like she was your everything and started treating her like she was just… there.
She falls out of love after too many nights spent questioning her worth while sitting next to a man who made her feel alone. She falls out of love after being vulnerable with someone who made her feel like her feelings were “too much.” She falls out of love when her emotional needs are consistently ignored and when the little things that once made her smile suddenly become things she has to beg for.
It’s the broken promises. The ones you swore you’d keep. The ones she believed with her whole heart. She held onto your words, even when your actions didn’t back them up. And eventually, the disappointment begins to outweigh the hope.
It’s the lack of effort. How she used to feel chosen, prioritized, seen… and now she feels like a backup plan to your distractions. You stopped courting her. You stopped learning her. You got comfortable, and in that comfort, you forgot that love requires maintenance, not autopilot.
It’s the poor communication. The way you shut down instead of opening up. The way she had to play detective just to understand what was going on in your head or your heart. She needed transparency, but she got silence.
It’s the emotional neglect. She was always pouring, but never receiving. She was always cheering for you, holding you down, believing in you....but when she needed someone to lean on, you disappeared. She stopped asking for support because she got tired of being disappointed.
It’s the absence of empathy. The way you dismissed her emotions, told her she was overthinking, or made her feel like expressing herself was a burden. When a woman has to silence her voice to keep the peace, she eventually forgets how to speak in love at all.
So no, you didn’t lose her to another man. You lost her because you stopped doing the things that made her feel safe, loved, and emotionally seen. You lost her because you thought she’d stay forever, even while she felt emotionally starved. You thought her loyalty would keep her, but even the most loyal woman eventually gets tired of feeling like an afterthought.
A woman doesn’t need another man to walk away… she just needs to realize she’s been walking alone for far too long.

I WAS ASKED HOW TO MEDITATE

What do you think is meditation? If you are concentrating on something—a sound, a light, or an image, then it is not meditation. It is concentration or contemplation. You cannot meditate “on” something, since true meditation is contentless consciousness.

You may project the query Who am I? into the deeps of your being—but do not repeat it like a parrot. It is not a mantra. It is a query to be thrown into consciousness without expectation of a response.

In fact, there is no mental response to be had. The answer is to be experientially felt.

The very questioning is making one aware of this ‘answer.’

Otherwise, sitting down and ‘meditating’ for an hour or so, ineffectually trying to stop thoughts, is just for beginners. At best, many practitioners often only manage to achieve a temporary blank or void. But blankness is nowhere near an Awareness of the Self.

After fifteen years or so of daily sitting and attempting to blot out the mind-flow by concentrating on this or that, I came to realise that this kind of part-time ‘meditation’ was not helping me. In fact, it was not meditation at all.

True meditation is simply remaining continuously conscious of your ‘existence’ in the heart centre at every moment, day and night (no matter what else you are doing).

A practical method to begin with, is to constantly fix your attention in the ‘Witnessing Consciousness’—that which is witnessing the thoughts without getting involved in them or any of the things visualised. You will eventually begin to realise that this is ‘you’, rather than the ‘I’ you have cultivated and to which you have attached yourself.

As your practice deepens, there is no spectacular inner event that occurs. It is just that Self-realisation either gradually or suddenly becomes apparent. When this mode of functioning becomes automatic and effortless, even the Witness consciousness finally dissolves and then there remains just what is—the Awareness—otherwise known as the Self.

This is the direct path.

Our Story

What is Reiki? and an overview of it's benefits.

The most common definition of Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) online today is that it is "a healing technique based on the principle that the practioner can share the divine energy and this can then flow into and through the client intuitively by means of touch to activate the natural healing processes of the client's body, and restore physical and emotional well-being".

In laymans terms it could also be described as energy flowing through the practioner into the client from the divine conciousness, God, Buddha, Krishna basically whatever you believe in, as Reiki is a tradition open to any belief system.

"Universal Life force energy" flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis and any blockages can result in dis-ease, literally we are not at ease in our bodies,
