Flu season is upon us, the following patients qualify for a free NHS flu jab. Book online to eliminate wait times and get a prompt vaccine

Age 65+ years (including those turning 65 years on or before 31st March 2026)
Age 18+ years with any of the following conditions:
- Diabetes
- Asthma (treated with a preventer inhaler) / COPD or any other long-term lung condition
- A long-term heart condition
- Kidney or liver disease
- A neurological condition such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease or MS
- A learning disability
- A Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more (severely overweight)
- A weakened immune system (or are in close contact with someone who has a weakened immune system) due to a medical condition such as HIV,
Age 18+ years and:
- A carer in receipt of carer’s allowance, or the main carer of an older or disabled person
- A frontline healthcare worker in social care or a hospice that does not have an employer-led occupational health flu vaccination scheme
- Living in long-stay residential care

Just after an ear wax removal, a patient wanted to look at their newly cleaned ears . So took a little meander through their ear canal with our specialist camera. Here is a nice healthy ear canal, with a nice healthy ear drum.

An ear full of wax, and then a nice clean and healthy ear. The first you may hear (pun intended) about having blocked ears is if the gp has a look and tells you that your ears are disgusting.
But you don’t have to wait for the gp to insult your ear hygiene, you can book a clean at swinton pharmacy before the gp has a chance to call you out. And then show that doctor your lovely ear drum.
Besides giving the gp what for, you can also turn the volume down on the tv, thereby stopping your significant other from considering divorce.
So many reasons to book a clean.

Meningitis is a serious health risk for university students, particularly during their first year, due to close living conditions and increased social interaction. University students are encouraged to get vaccinated against meningitis, especially the MenACWY vaccine, which protects against common strains. Knowing the symptoms and seeking immediate medical attention if suspected is crucial.

If you are experiencing hearing loss or pain in your ears, it may be due to excess wax. This patient had a massive plug of wax that we managed to clear out with a bit of effort. Hearing restored!
