IMPORTANT PLEASE READ ‼️
After several months we have finally managed to secure an AED (automatic external defibrillator) for the benefit of everyone in the area surrounding our practice. This defibrillator has been very generously donated to us by the family and friends of the late Lesley Johnson who passed away suddenly whilst walking nearby. This is something we all hope we’ll never need, but we know how valuable this piece of kit is.
The defribrulator is now live and fully registered, and in turn with North West Ambulance Service making it available to anyone should they need it. It is located at our practice
Wallwork Opticians, 308 Worsley Road, Swinton so I would ask you all to familiarise yourselves with this info.
Remember this is now your defribulator. Do not be afraid of this equipment. Anyone with or without training can use this item as it is fully automated, so you cannot make mistakes. It even helps with live guidance on correct CPR techniques. If anyone still feels uneasy using the defribulator simply search on youtube and watch the relevant short video on how to use.
This is extremely important to understand as doing something is better than doing nothing. The British Heart Foundation website reiterates how simple these are to operate. Suffering an event is not always age appropriate so this equipment can be life saving to all.
The defribulator is located in a heated and illuminated outside box at the front entrance of the practice, secured by coded access given to anyone using the 999 service, and the power needed to support this will be provided by us as will the annual service that the device will require.
Being prepared in an emergency is vital. This would be a time of panic to most people, so I really would ask all of you to familiarise yourself with this location. Maybe take a walk down or a short drive and physically know where this is. Doing this now will save you more stress than needed if the time should come.
Finally thank you to the family and friends of Les especially her partner Brian for the monies donated to help with this invaluable project.
