If you're bothered by smudgy marks on your lenses, you're not alone! But did you know the way you clean your glasses might be damaging them? Read on for Campbell Eyecare's 3 tips for keeping your specs clean and in great condition.

1. Avoid using tissue paper, kitchen paper or clothing such as your sleeve to wipe your lenses. While these materials may appear soft, they're actually quite abrasive, and can leave tiny micro scratches on your lenses that over time can accumulate and affect clarity.
2. A microfibre cloth is the best tool to keep your glasses clean. This material is made specially to clean glass that is sensitive to scratches such as glasses and camera lenses. Be sure to keep this somewhere dust-free so that it doesn't transfer dust to your lenses!
4. Avoid chemical cleaners that aren't designed for glasses. Not only are these dangerous to have the residue of near your eyes, but ammonia in some cleaning products can damage any special costing your lenses might have. Things like screen cleaners aren't appropriate for glasses lenses - instead opt for a specially formulated lens cleaning solution which you can buy in a convenient spray bottle - or even just plain water.

We all want to look dazzling on a daily basis, but if you've ever been bothered the reflections on your lenses in photos or on video calls and wondered if there is a way to reduce it, look no further. This week Campbell Eyecare are sharing our 3 tips for getting rid of the glare.

1. Eyeglass glare is caused when light reflects on the surface of your lenses. The angle that the light hits is key here. If you're striving for the perfect selfie and can't get rid of the glare, try changing the angle of your head slightly until the light no longer reflects. Tilting your chin down slightly can often be enough to eliminate glare. Angle yourself away from any nearby light sources and adjust your positioning until you no longer see the troublesome reflections.

2. Struggling with glare on video calls? Often the largest source of light in this scenario is the monitor itself. Try reducing your monitor's brightness. Increasing ambient light can help - if it's dim around you, try increasing the amount of light to reduce the intensity of reflections from your monitor.

3. If glare is a real issue for you, consider lenses with an anti-reflection coating. These are designed to stop light from bouncing off your lenses, letting it pass through freely and almost completely eliminating the appearance of reflections. These have the added bonus of stopping light from scattering as it passes through your lenses, helping you focus on it more clearly and reducing your need to squint.
