A Council Poem
I bring the Way of Council to the world
because peace begins in how we meet.
In Council we remember
to listen with the whole heart,
to speak with the voice of truth,
to witness without judgement.
Here we make a place where stories
long silenced can be spoken,
where wounds can be tended,
where differences soften into respect.
In this way,
Council becomes a ground of justice:
a space where each voice matters,
where those harmed and those who harmed
may be seen as human again,
where conflict gives way to understanding.
In this way,
Council becomes a ground of peace:
youth finding their voice,
elders offering their wisdom,
communities remembering their wholeness,
activists renewing their courage,
and all of us listening again to the Earth.
I bring Council as a living practice
not to solve, not to fix,
but to create the conditions
where healing and reconciliation
become possible.
For justice without listening cannot last.
For peace without truth cannot hold.
Council is the place where
justice and peace learn to breathe together.
