Think weight is just a number? When it comes to fertility, there’s more to the story.

Whether your BMI is high or low, weight can influence hormone balance, ovulation, and even the success of fertility treatment like IVF.

But here’s the good news:
💜 Even small, realistic changes can have a meaningful impact.
💜 You don’t have to do it alone and you don’t have to be perfect.

Here are the 5 things that often get overlooked when talking about weight and fertility.
And remember we see you, not just your numbers.

We asked our community what infertility really feels like and these were their honest words.
Infertility isn’t just a medical condition. It affects your emotions, your relationships, your sense of self.

This post is a reminder that if you’re going through this, you’re not alone and you’re not “too sensitive,” “too emotional,” or “overreacting.”

At Care Fertility, we support you through all of it, not just the treatment.

Wondering how age affects your fertility?🤔

Fertility changes gradually, then more noticeably over time. But many people don’t realise just how early egg quality and quantity begin to decline.

Here’s a quick look at the female fertility timeline ✔️

While age is an important factor, it’s not the only one. Hormones, lifestyle, and reproductive health conditions all play a role too.

If you’re not sure where you stand, we’re here to help. Fertility testing can offer clarity and options.

Can weight loss injections help you to get pregnant?👇

Yes – medications like Ozempic and Wegovy can restart ovulation, rebalance hormones, and increase fertility, even for those who’ve struggled before. That’s why we’re seeing more so‑called “Ozempic babies”: unplanned pregnancies happening while still on the medication.

But is it safe?

The short answer is, we don’t know yet. There isn’t enough research into how these drugs affect pregnancy or babies conceived while taking them.

If you’re thinking about conceiving – whether now or in the future – it’s important to get personalised advice. Our fertility specialists can guide you through your options and help you plan the safest path forward.

Our fertility specialists can help you navigate it all.

Stress & fertility: what your body might be trying to tell you🤔

When you're under prolonged stress, your body can send subtle (and not-so-subtle) signals and some of them can impact fertility.

From hormonal disruption and irregular cycles to gut imbalance and reduced libido, stress can show up in ways we don’t always expect.

If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone. And if you're trying to conceive, understanding these signs is a powerful first step.

Fertility health isn’t always about “trying right now.”

Here are 5 signs it might be worth speaking to a specialist:
Irregular or missing periods
TTC for 12+ months (or 6+ if over 35)
PCOS, endometriosis, or thyroid concerns
Multiple miscarriages
Wanting to freeze your eggs or plan ahead

Knowing more about your fertility can bring peace of mind — and open up more options.

At Care Fertility, we’re dedicated to supporting patients and ensuring everyone has access to the fertility care they need.

If you live in Birmingham, Tamworth, Northampton, Nottingham, or Sheffield, we encourage you to participate in this important survey about changes to NHS-funded fertility treatment across the East Midlands.

A new survey is open about proposed changes to fertility treatment access across five Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), including:

Derby & Derbyshire ICB
Nottingham & Nottinghamshire ICB
Northamptonshire ICB
Leicester & Leicestershire ICB
Rutland & Lincolnshire ICB

These changes will impact many local patients, including those in Glossopdale and Bassetlaw.

What’s Changing?

- Reduced access to IVF: Policies will be harmonised to offer just 1 partial IVF cycle (one ovarian stimulation and up to 6 embryo transfers) for women under 42. Currently, some areas offer up to 3 full cycles.

- New eligibility rules: Couples where one partner has a child from a previous relationship will no longer qualify for NHS-funded IVF.

- Expanded access for same-sex couples, single women, and trans men: These groups will now be considered to have a fertility issue (if all other criteria are met), making them eligible for NHS treatment.

Deadline for Feedback: January 10, 2025

How you can get involved:
Complete the survey: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0fjL3Q0
Attend a focus group: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0fjJZL0

At Care Fertility, we believe your voice matters. Let’s work together to ensure fertility policies are fair and inclusive for everyone.
