Today is also Covid-19 Day of Reflection 🕯️ — a poignant moment for us all to remember those we lost, the challenges we faced, and the extraordinary community spirit that helped us through.

During the pandemic, Tamworth pulled together. Statutory services, voluntary organisations, local groups and volunteers worked side-by-side to support our community when it was needed most. From a dedicated telephone support line to food parcels, prescription pick-ups, blood test postage, befriending calls, jigsaw exchanges, online activities and connectivity support, and meals for those who were lonely or isolated — the response was truly remarkable.

Today we also say a heartfelt thank you to all frontline workers — NHS staff, carers, emergency services, council teams, volunteers and key workers — who continued to serve and protect our communities through the most difficult of times. 💙

Their compassion, resilience and dedication will never be forgotten.

Today we celebrate the incredible women who make a difference across Mercian Primary Care Network.

Our Social Prescribing team plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our communities every day – connecting people with services, support and opportunities that improve lives.

We are proud to recognise and thank the amazing women in our team whose compassion, dedication and leadership inspire us all.

Happy International Women’s Day to the women who support our patients, our practices and our communities.

🔊Tamworth Borough Council is proud to announce that Tamworth has been formally recognised by Public Health Palliative Care (PHPC) UK and PHPC International, as a ‘Compassionate Town’, marking a significant milestone in the borough’s commitment to community wellbeing, compassion and partnership working.

The recognition follows the council’s ongoing work through the Tamworth Health and Wellbeing Partnership, which brings together health, care, voluntary and community sectors and local authority partners to improve outcomes for residents.

This achievement reflects more than a year of collaboration, learning and self-assessment, supported by Compassionate Communities UK and rooted in Tamworth’s strong community foundations.

🥞🏃‍♀️ It’s Nearly Here – Our Pancake Race Fundraiser at Offa House! 🏃‍♂️🥞

The countdown is on! We’re so excited for tomorrow’s Pancake Race Fundraiser at Offa House – and the weather is looking good too! 🌤️

Get ready for plenty of laughs, a bit of friendly competition, and a wonderful community atmosphere as we come together to celebrate this brilliant tradition.

📜 Did You Know?

The pancake race tradition dates back nearly 600 years to 1445 in Olney, England. According to legend, a housewife was busy making pancakes when she heard the church bells calling for the shriving service. Not wanting to be late, she ran to church with her frying pan and pancake still in hand – apron and headscarf included! Neighbours joined in, and before long it became a race to see who could reach the church first and receive a “Kiss of Peace” from the verger (bell-ringer).

And tomorrow… we’re keeping that tradition alive right here in our community! 🎉
