⚖️ Training That Balances Knowledge and Action — Because Care Deserves Both

It’s easy to view training as a box-ticking exercise. One online module here, one quick practical there — move on. But that’s not how we do things at UK Phoenix Healthcare.

We know that great care comes from confidence — and that confidence is built when theory meets real-life practice.

Emma, who recently attended one of our sessions, put it best:

“It was the only training course I’ve done that was actually interesting and enjoyable... gave me the skills and confidence to feel capable and knowledgeable.”

That’s the result of getting the balance right.

🧠 E-learning offers a flexible, scalable way to cover critical theory — Safeguarding, First Aid principles, legislation — all delivered at pace, and perfect for busy care professionals. In fact, 67% of employees say e-learning improves their ability to work more efficiently, and it allows learners to absorb theory at their own pace and revisit material as needed.

🤝 But it’s the in-person training where things truly stick. According to the National Training Laboratory, learners retain up to 75% more when learning is hands-on. It’s where understanding is assessed, muscle memory is built, and confidence is gained through live demonstration, correction, and conversation.

Together, this hybrid model gives our learners the best of both worlds:

✅ Speed and accessibility through e-learning
✅ Practical application through live sessions
✅ Real-time skill assessment that builds lasting confidence

It’s all part of the care we bring to our training — because we believe that training should feel just as human as the work it prepares you for.

Dementia looks different for everyone, and symptoms will also be different depending on what kind of dementia someone has.

Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies are four of the most common forms of dementia, and they can all affect people differently. This is our guide to a few of the most common symptoms for each illness.

By knowing the signs, we can make sure that we don’t brush off or ignore some of these lesser-known symptoms, to help everyone with dementia get a crucial early diagnosis.

Save this post for later, and if you’d like more info visit our website or give our Dementia Support Line a call on 0333 150 3456.

💬 Clinical Training That Feels Like a Conversation — Not a Lecture

When we think of clinical training, we often picture a cold room, a PowerPoint, and a checklist of boxes to tick. Important topics, of course — First Aid, Safeguarding — but not exactly something most people look forward to. And that’s a problem.

Because in care, our purpose is to bring joy into people’s lives. To help them feel safe, seen, and supported. So why shouldn't we bring that same energy into how we train those delivering the care?

That’s exactly what we aim to do at UK Phoenix Healthcare.
Recently, Vicky — one of our Clinical Trainers — led a refresher course. Emma, a participant, later wrote:

"You delivered it in a great way and I’m pretty sure it was the only training course I’ve done that was actually interesting and enjoyable!"

She went on to say how it didn’t just refresh her knowledge — it gave her new tools, boosted her confidence, and left her feeling capable and ready to put that learning into practice.

And here’s the thing: that’s not an accident.

We believe that injecting fun into clinical training isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. Research backs us up: learners retain up to 90% more when the experience is enjoyable and participatory, versus passive lectures.

Training should never feel like a test. It should feel like a conversation, a moment to reconnect with the “why” behind what we do — and a chance to walk away feeling skilled, supported, and inspired.

We bring that philosophy to every session we deliver — whether internal or external.

If you're looking for clinical training that doesn’t just tick the box, but builds up your team with confidence and care…

📩 Let’s have a conversation. We’re here to support all your external training needs — and to make it something your staff genuinely enjoy.

A helpful reminder for any parent. If your child can't tell you in words, they will often use their behaviour to let you know how they’re feeling. This might come out as anger.

Underneath these behaviours, a young person who seems very angry may also be feeling things like fear, stress, sadness, hurt or worry – or might be struggling to cope with a difficult experience at school, at home or in another part of their life that they feel unable to talk about.

It can be helpful to remember that a person who’s feeling angry a lot of the time probably isn’t feeling very happy – and while it might not be obvious, what they often need is support. Supporting children and young people to put their feelings into words can help them to feel less overwhelming, making it less likely that they will need to act out.

2️⃣ - Will Wellings was awarded Player of the match for the Seconds. Top scoring on the day to help his side work toward a defendable total. Good innings Will, keep it up 💪🏻

🦸🏻‍♂️ - Our Heroes this week are without doubt, our Under 11 Champions. Champions in their first ever competitive season. Amazing achievement, the whole club is incredibly proud.

CHAMPIONS 🏆

Congratulations to our Under 11 Team, who were last night crowned Champions. Following their 12 run victory over Whittington. 🍾

We could not be prouder of this group of young men, who have managed to achieve great things in their first year of competitive cricket. A brilliant bunch who'll support and encourage each other all day, we're really excited to see how many go on to become future senior cricketers for our club 👏🏻

However, there has been a mammoth effort that has gone into this from behind the scenes. There are a lot of thank-yous that need to be sent out.

Parents, for bringing them all over Shropshire & training on Fridays.
Coaches, who give up their time weekly to support.
The volunteers, who aid the bar, cook the post game & coaching food, score and umpire.

But a special extended thank you, must go to UK Phoenix. Your sponsorship of this side, provides vital funding allowing them to play the game. Your funds look to be creating 11 of finest regional talents.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Congratulations lads, enjoy a few lemonades. Final coaching session Friday 🏆

Our Under 11s win another game, beating Shelton at home.
Shelton scored 285, and we managed to score 295 from our allocation. A fantastic team performance and spirit showed by the boys this morning. Not just in displaying their ability, but for their commitment to learning the game. A young group of players we are truly proud of.
