Our weekend at SightCare Group Live 2026🙌🏽

We had an amazing time expanding our knowledge, discovering new and innovative suppliers, and connecting with many brilliant colleagues across the industry.

It’s always great to step away from the day-to-day, see what’s new, and come back with fresh ideas we can actually put into practice.

A huge thank you to the team at Sight Care for organising such a great weekend, as an independent practice, being a member and being able to attend events like this provides us with a sense of community and helps keep us connected to the wider industry💙

Visual difficulties aren’t always about how clearly you can see👁️

The visual system is more than just 20/20 vision, it’s how your eyes and brain work together to process visual information, supporting learning, reading, concentration, sport and everyday activities.

Behavioural optometry explores how efficiently this system is working, looking beyond standard eyesight to assess skills such as eye coordination, focusing, tracking, and visual processing. Where difficulties are identified, it uses tailored approaches such as lenses, prisms, and vision therapy to help improve comfort, efficiency and overall visual performance.

We are really looking forward to sharing more about our clinic and this specialised approach at SightCare Group Live this weekend!😄

The 4 Charts 👁️

This exercise is designed to strengthen visual processing, eye tracking and coordination between the eyes and brain. By moving their focus between different hart charts, the patient practices controlling their eye movements while improving concentration and the ability to switch focus between tasks.

Different variations can be added to challenge the system in different ways:

✋ Clapping (e.g. at vowels) – brings in listening and timing, helping the brain coordinate what is seen, heard and done at the same time.
🫣 Covering one eye – challenges how each eye works individually, helping build stronger control and balance between the eyes.
⏱️ Metronome – adds rhythm and timing, encouraging consistent, controlled eye movements while improving processing speed.

Together, these variations build the skills that support children with things such as reading, staying focused, coordinating movements, and handling visual tasks more easily.

Besides making you panic.. what does ‘clearer on red or green’ actually tell your optician? 👀

This is the Duochrome Test, a clever part of your eye exam that helps make sure your prescription is perfectly balanced.

Red and green backgrounds show how your eyes focus light. If the dots look sharper on red, your prescription might be a little too strong, and if they’re sharper on green, it might be a touch too weak. The goal? For the dots to look equally clear, meaning your eyes are balanced and your prescription is optimised for sharp, comfortable vision 👁️
