Spend a lot of your day looking at screens? 👁️💻

This month we are focused on reminding you to take your eye health seriously, and another simple way to do this is by implementing the 20-20-20 rule into your daily routine to reduce digital eye strain.

Excessive screen use forces your eyes to focus for long periods and reduces blinking, so taking regular breaks is important to give your eyes a chance to rest and help ease common symptoms such as headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and fatigue.

If these symptoms persist despite taking breaks, be sure to book an appointment with your optometrist to check your eye health and rule out any underlying issues🤞🏼

March is all about highlighting the importance of taking your eye health seriously, so to kick things off, here’s a reminder to attend eye tests ROUTINELY, and not just when you’re experiencing problems.

National guidelines recommend:
Aged 15 and under - every year
Ages 16 - 69 years - every 2 years
Aged 70 years - yearly
Diabetic and Glaucoma Patients - yearly
Aged 40 years plus with an immediate relative with Glaucoma - yearly

When was the last time your child had their eyes tested? 👁️

Regular eye tests support your child’s development, learning and confidence, and most importantly, they help catch vision problems early since children often don’t realise they aren’t seeing clearly.

Early detection means problems can be managed or corrected more effectively. For example, if conditions such as myopia (short-sightedness) are identified and treated earlier in childhood, progression can often be slowed, helping to reduce future risks to eye health.

Thanks to the NHS, every child can access eye care. Children under 16 are entitled to free eye tests and may also qualify for optical vouchers to help with the cost of glasses or contact lenses if needed👓
