🧠🧠 Why telling men to “open up more” can backfire
Therapy isn’t about “fixing” how men feel; it’s about giving space to be understood.
Research, studies & experience into Male Psychology points out that constantly telling men to “open up more” can send the wrong message; it can imply that men are emotionally lacking, stunted, emotionally inept, or doing it “wrong.”
But the truth is: men do feel deeply. Many just express those feelings differently, through actions, problem-solving, humor, quiet reflection, or showing up for the people they care about. (Masculinity is biologically linked to providing and protecting)
Therapy doesn’t have to mean sitting in a room and spilling your guts if that’s not your style. A good therapist works with how you process emotions, not against them.
✅ It’s not about changing who you are.
✅ It’s about having a space where your way of feeling and coping is respected, and where you can build even more strength from it.
Real strength isn’t silence. It’s giving yourself permission to be heard, in your own way. 💬
