A little glimpse at last week’s new moon drums ❤️

Birthed on the Holly New Moon a delightful 12” Red Deer travelling drum and a 14” Reindeer drum still small enough to travel with whilst being a great all rounder for healing and journey work.

Woven in the energies of the Holly New Moon these drums harness the HollyTree’s gifts of courage to seek out and retrieve the parts of us that have been lost.
As we integrate more of our souls selves we can inhabit our bodies more fully and walk our life path with more courage.

It’s been a very busy five weeks of first running my own drum birthing retreat and then offering a very unique drum birthing as part of a gorgeous retreat in Glastonbury followed by two shows down in Sussex and Kent. After returning home last week saw the blessing on the drum altar of these two beauties birthed in ceremony with prayers and offerings on the Flower Moon. Two very individual Red Deer drums which are now in the drying shed settling into their final forms before their finishing touches are added. Hopefully now I’ve landed back home I will be able to put together some photos of the last few weeks away for you to see and catch up a bit on here!

The Lunar Eclipse on Friday, which took place during the Alder Full Moon and the
Crow Moon (also know as the Worm Moon or Travellers Moon ) saw the birthing of two very different drums.

The first was a unique Reindeer hide Ovoid commission, and it hides somewhat shyly, behind its much darker horse hide sister drum.
It will be revealed in full once it is in the hands of its keeper later this Spring.

The 16” birch frame drum is from natural death horse hide and is the first of a small collection that I will be birthing over the next few months; as I have finally after much waiting once again sourced a lovely quality, whole hide to work with. I look forward to sharing the others with you in due course.

This one definitely made me play the drum equivalent of ‘yarn chicken’ with the drum lacing though, literally just enough for the final knot!

Today saw the birthing of the last of the winter travelling drums as we transited through the Alder New Moon in Pisces.

These little drums spin out from my fingers between Samhain and the Spring Equinox, coming into being on the New Moons and carry within them a vibrant and clear creative energy.

Small yet powerful, they carry lively and strong drum songs, that can be worked with out on the land with the Spirits of Place, the Elements, the Trees and all nature beings.

This winter time birthing allows for very slow drying of the drums in the drying shed, this helps them to be more resilient to the challenges of damp and cold weather when played outside.

Tonight as I write this post, and the drum rests in the drying shed alongside a special commissioned drum destined for a home in Middle England; I am listening to the Tawny Owls calling between the trees in the garden singing their songs into the drying drum skins.

Something a little different on the drum altar this Valentine's afternoon.

Some Drum Love in the studio for today's drum birthing - after recently being reminded by my drum guide to keep my work fun, I commissioned a heart shaped tension ring from my blacksmith maker!

A little blessing with Star Child Glastonbury 'Love' incense (one of my favourites) and she is off into the drying shed for the next week or so to settle into her new form.

Any guesses as to what she has asked for as a handle??

Beautiful Red Deer Drums on the drum altar today.

Lovingly woven onto frames of Ash wood, an 18" honey coloured Scottish Red Deer hide and a 14" European Red Deer Hide which has a magical spirit breath hole right in the centre of the drum. Each has a matching song caller on hand polished Rowan Wood.

I have loved birthing these under the Snow Moon also known as the Rising Moon and sometimes even the Storm or Hungry Moon!
This is also the full moon of the Rowan Tree in my unique Celtic Tree Calendar and is rises today in the astrological sign of Leo.
All these wonderful energies have been woven into each drum whilst they were birthed - in ceremony and with prayers and blessings offered to the four legs and standing ones who gift the bones and drum skins.

Now resting in the drying shed for a week or more to take on their final tension before their finishing touches are added.

Two lovely full moon drums were birthed yesterday and came back to the drum altar today for the blessings of smoke and water from Stag + Seer with Shaman Incense and PipEssence Moon Water .

16" and 14" Reindeer Hide on Birch Wood Bones carry the energies of the Birch Full Moon in Cancer, the Wolf Moon also known as the Quiet Moon.

Both the drum heads and their lacing were cut from the same hide; creating a pair of sibling Northern Drums that will become wonderful healing allies for their future keepers.

Now they rest in the drying shed for the next 10 days or so before receiving their Heart Stones and other finishing touches. I'm excited to hear their songs!

With thanks to the creations that adorn my drum altar from -inkwitch and Danielle Barlow

A lovely northern travelling drum sits on the Drum Altar tonight before resting in the dark of betwixt and between in the drying shed.
This beauty was birthed today in the energies of the Birch New Moon in Capricorn.

Welcome to the Solstice drums birthed at dawn and dusk this Winter Solstice day and blessed on the drum altar as darkness fell.
Carrying the matriarchal energies of Reindeer wrapped around bones of Oak - as the Oak King triumphs over the Holly King, to guide us into the light half of the year ahead.
Such an honour to create these beauties who now rest in the drying shed whilst we take a little rest and time out with dear family and friends over the next few days.

We will see you all later in January when a small herd of wild winter drums will head down from the hills and into the online shop looking for their keepers.
Until then have a restful midwinter time with many Solstice blessings from me to you and yours.
