Have you attended a Parkinson’s exercise class run by your local leisure provider in the last year? If so, we would love to hear about your experiences and feedback.

Insights gathered will help build a better understanding of the experiences of people with Parkinson’s and the physical activity opportunities available. This will help shape future physical activity work in Scotland.

For more information about the survey and to take part, this link (prksn.uk/3Scc0hB) will take you directly to the opt-in consent form.

If you have any questions about this evaluation or require printed copies of the form with stamped address envelopes please get in touch at parkinsonsactive@parkinsons.org.uk and we will arrange for these to be sent to you.

It’s easy to think we’re not good at something, to write ourselves off or feel powerless to change. Swap that fixed mindset for a growth mindset. For example, Instead of saying ‘I’m not good at balancing’, say ‘I’m not good at balancing yet’ & give yourself the chance to improve & the belief that you are capable.

Now this sounds like a fun way to get some exercise!

And now for something completely different - and organisers Jo and Heather promise that it will put a big smile on your face!

Exercise drumming is great for improving muscle tone and coordination, gives a full body work out and helps thinking and wellbeing. So why not give it a try at one of our free online taster sessions?

All you need is a laundry tub, 2 wooden spoons, a chair and an internet connection - and away you go! (You can also use drumsticks, an exercise ball and a plastic garden trug if you have them.)

Each sessions lasts up to 60 minutes and are open to people with Parkinson's and unpaid carers. Please contact Jo or Heather for joining info.

Did you know that some common supplements and medicines react badly with Parkinson's drugs?

These include over-the-counter herbal treatment St John's Wort, iron supplements and cold and flu tablets. These interactions aren't always obvious - so it's a good idea to check with your Parkinson's consultant, nurse or pharmacist before taking anything new.

And if you're prescribed medication to treat nausea and vomiting or hallucinations it's *really* important that your prescriber checks what you are already taking to avoid meds that can cause a bad reaction.

Although I disagree with using the sensationalising language that exercise ‘reversed’ this man’s PD, this article illustrates the amazing effect regular exercise can have on the symptoms of Parkinson’s.

Even if he were, the sidewalk lining the block of his quiet, residential neighborhood in Belfast, Ireland, was unlikely to be metallic. And he was pretty certain he hadn’t stepped in any glue.

A research team at the Faculty of Medicine at Kiel University has developed a method that reliably detects protein changes in blood that are typical of Parkinson's.
