Corn or verruca? Corn or verruca?

A fantastic differentiation method of a verruca and a corn is observing the skin closely; the verruca virus disrupts the line patterns causing your striations to become interrupted. You may also notice that verruca tissue has small black dots, which are the verrucas blood vessels and will bleed if damaged.

An easy test to differentiate a corn from a verruca is to squeeze the skin around the lesion, medially to laterally. If the lesion is painful to embrace, then this is most probably a verruca.

Remember, whether you have a corn or a verruca, it's not advised to self diagnose and self treat. Instead, contact us to book an appointment where we can provide a correct diagnosis and treatment 📞 01829 304179

| Research has shown corns tend to affect people with a drier skin type, however much like a verruca, they are not picky and will attack any person of any age and ability. Corns are often painful to pressure and can become red, hot and swollen if left untreated.

| Wear boots that fit comfortably and that aren’t too tight. Tight footwear can decrease blood flow, making it harder to keep your feet warm therefore increasing the risk of frostbite, or flaring up conditions such as Chilblains ❄️

| Putting your feet up is not only a fantastic way to relax; it also helps with your circulation and keeping your feet warm.

Your floor is most likely the coldest part of your home and warm air rises, therefore putting your feet up will advance your comfort.

| Boots are must-have footwear in winter climates, especially when dealing with winter precipitation. Between the waterproof material of the boots themselves and the warm socks you wear to keep toes toasty, you may find your feet sweat a lot 👣

Damp, sweaty feet can chill more easily and are more prone to bacterial infections. To keep feet clean and dry, consider using foot powder inside socks and incorporating extra foot baths into your foot care regimen this winter ❄️

| Cold, numb toes are not uncommon in freezing temperatures, and the pins and needles feeling can be a lot more severe. Gentle, calming exercises, warm foot baths and food high in omega 3 is an excellent place to start to boost your circulation!

Keep safe and well ❤️

FAQ | Can medication help with reactive tendinopathy?

Inflammation is actually highly uncommon in reactive tendinopathy. Despite this fact, anti-inflammatory medication is thought to be useful - the theory being that it inhibits the production of proteins responsible for tendon swelling.
