After Emma Louise Richards first sang for our residents at Deer Park they made us promise to have her back again, and now she’s a firm favourite with songs such as Que sera sera, Walking back to happiness, These boots are made for walking and Cotton Eye Joe.
For anyone who has enjoyed music at some point in their lives, hearing old favourites again can trigger those feel-good hormones and put smiles on their faces.
We have lots of laughter – sometimes even a few tears along the way - and we all look forward to Emma's visits!

Ahoy matey and Yo ho ho everyone! Shiver me timbers! Avalon was awash with swashbucklers and scallywags on our fabulous Pirate Day.
Residents posed with tricorn hats, eye-patches, a cutlass and a cut-out parrot for a fun photo session, and we made treasure maps and sang sea shanties. Lots of laughs! 🏴‍☠️🦜⚓

Enormous thanks to for their visit to Camelot House and Lodge. Our ladies and gents absolutely loved meeting the spring lambs, cuddly bunnies, guinea pigs and celebrity donkey Charlie from sister organisation Kelly’s Donkeys 😍
They visited on a lovely sunny day, which meant residents could enjoy animal encounters both indoors and outdoors, and the smiles on their faces really said it all! 🐑🐰😊

We were blown away that our fundraiser at Yeovil’s Quicksilver Mail Pub raised £1100 in aid of the residents’ fund at Chestnut Lodge, and so pleased by how much everyone enjoyed themselves!
Huge thanks to all who donated the lovely prizes, including families of residents, Yeovil Town FC, The Manor Hotel, Refined Beauty, and our wonderful staff.
And a special vote of thanks to Pete Lambden, landlord of the , who kindly allowed us to hold the bingo evening at his pub free of charge.
Money raised will be used to improve the outdoor space at the home and make the garden more beautiful for our residents.

Many thanks to Carmen W for your top review of Butterfly Lodge: “Warm and welcoming staff on arrival. Helpful and enthusiastic. Nothing was too much trouble. My Uncle looked amazingly well. He was happy and upbeat and said he is happy within the establishment. We were brought teas and biscuits during our visit. Overall a feel-good factor around and other residents appeared to be happy. We, as a family, felt comfortable throughout our visit.”

We had Easter bonnets to wear, chocolate to eat, rabbits to stroke, a big bunny to shake hands with, songs to sing, flowers to arrange.... 👒🐤🎀🐰🌹
Safe to say residents at all our homes thoroughly enjoyed the Easter bank holiday weekend!

What lovely feedback from Xiaoping N: "I can't thank the staff at Chestnut Lodge care home enough for the care, kindness and respect they showed my father. He has been a resident there for around two years and from the very beginning the team made him feel safe, comfortable and truly valued.
"My father was too ill for me to look after him. Since he's been a resident at Chestnut Lodge, he has gone from eating liquid food to solid foods. During Chinese New Year, the staff had decorated his room to celebrate with him. They also make Chinese food for him on occasions.
"The staff are not only professional but genuinely compassionate, attentive and willing to go the extra mile. The home itself is warm, clean and welcoming, creating a lovely environment for residents.
"Knowing that my dad is surrounded by people who treat him with respect and kindness gave my family a real peace of mind. Our family are incredibly grateful for everything and would recommend Chestnut Lodge to any family looking for a supportive care home."

Oh, how we all love St Patrick's Day!

Residents at Avalon enjoyed decorating the lounge with St Patrick's day banners and the Irish flag, and then had a lovely dance and a singalong. In the afternoon there was celebratory wine or cider for those who fancied it.
