Our Survey on Funeral Services Choice

Of those who took our survey, around 68% stated they would have a personalised ceremony with a celebrant leading the service.
Around 27% chose a faith led service
Only 10% an unattended direct cremation and the others category made up the rest of the number.

A very interesting insight in a world where we are constantly being told in the media that we must have direct cremation.

We are pleased that people feel they would want a Personalised and meaningful funeral.

This does not mean that a traditional faith led service cannot be personalised and meaningful nor does it mean that you can’t create a special moment at a simple reflection service, but it clearly shows that this audience remains focused on the importance of a good goodbye.

We are here to help you make this reality when you find yourselves needing to put those wishes together and will do all we can to make it a life event memory to cherrish. 🌙🎩

Wishing our friends at the The Langport Stores a wonderful 12th anniversary.
Anyone who hasn’t discovered this little Gem in the heart of Langport, go along and see John and Jason, they offer amazing produce and lots of local fayre.

Hard to believe, but 12 years ago today we opened The Langport Stores as our new adventure in Somerset began. It’s been a roller coaster ride over the intervening years, but we are always so grateful to all our wonderful customers for keeping the Store going, so thank you for shopping locally. Our county of Somerset has been shaken by the awful news from the Minehead School Trip tragedy.
Our thoughts are with all who mourn and we wish peace to the young boy, his family and friends at this time.

We also send healing thoughts to those who will be recovering in our hospitals and to the Minehead community you are in our thoughts. 🌙🎩🕊️

Some advance warning for families over the coming days.

We are in receipt of notification of essential work being carried out at Taunton Crematorium.

This does not stop us from making arrangements with you for funerals outside of these dates, equally we will be able to suggest services at our other local crematoria, Sedgemoor Crematorium near Bridgwater should these dates be essential for your family. 🌙🎩

The Fuller Enquiry.

The Funeral Profession, rightly so, is facing a new dawn on scruitiny and as a profession, we are moving towards legislation changes which will affect all Funeral Directors across the land.

There have been some undeniable atrocities within the profession by unscrupulous individuals who quite frankly are not part of Funeral Services for the correct reasons and have no place in this noble profession.

We welcome a level of regulation that will see those types of business taken away from our communities and held to account for their apparent behaviour and practices.

Sir Jonathan Michael has led the enquiry following the Fuller scandal in Kent and had this statement to say in the most recent phase of his findings and we couldn’t agree more……

“I urge all those involved in the care of people after death to challenge themselves on these issues; to question whether they uphold the same standards in caring for someone after death as they would if that person were alive. The deceased are at least as vulnerable as the living and are worthy of the same level of protection.”

Being a part of SAIF independent funeral directors mean that we are held to account and assessed to a level of standards that will see us uphold the best practices.

We never undervalue the trust that is put in us by our families and all our team receive training and continuous professional development throughout their career with us, this is our commitment to questioning ourselves every day and not allowing ourselves to get stuck in our ways.

Our team are so thankful for the cooler weather that is promised, the last week or so has been quite a challenge.

We had a couple of lovely families offer for us to take our jackets and ties off, but standards are everything to us and nothing that can’t be tolerated with help of a lot of water and the occasional ice lolly
