✨ Movement truly is powerful medicine ✨

As women move through midlife and menopause, our bodies naturally begin to change. Some symptoms may be obvious — like disrupted sleep, hot flushes, anxiety or low mood — while other changes happen more quietly in the background.

Things like reduced muscle mass, decreasing bone density, changes in pelvic health and shifts in strength and energy are all part of this stage of life. Over time, these changes can also influence our long-term health.

But the good news is that the right kind of movement can support our bodies through all of it. 💜

Regular exercise can help to:

🦴 Protect bone health
⚖️ Improve balance and stability
🫶 Support core and pelvic floor function

My classes are designed to help women build strength, improve mobility and feel more connected to their bodies in a safe and welcoming environment. We combine strength work, gentle mobility, balance, stretching and relaxation so you will feel stronger, calmer and more energised.

More importantly, my FFH&HB is about community. It’s a space where women can move, laugh, support one another and realise they’re not navigating this stage of life alone.

Our aim is to help women:

It's the 1st of March and I can feel Spring almost knocking on our doors 🌷⛅️ The sun is almost shining down on us and it's time to get outdoors, feel the air, breathe in nature and absorb some much needed Vit D, vital for maintaining healthy teeth, bones and muscles. Being outdoors is so good for your wellbeing and so is moving.

We've had an amazing 1st week of classes and I am looking forward to seeing you all next week to nourish our body with movement and breath.

Welcome to my new post for your Health & Happiness.

As we are still in February, let's take a look at ❤ health

“Cardiovascular disease is responsible for 35% of deaths in women each year – more than all cancers combined.”

Let that sink in for a moment. ❤

We talk a lot about breast cancer. We wear the ribbons. We go to the screenings. And rightly so. But heart health? It often slips under the radar for midlife women.

The truth is, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in women — and menopause plays a bigger role than many realise.

Oestrogen is incredibly protective for the heart. It helps:

🫀 Regulate cholesterol
🫀 Reduce fat build-up in the arteries
🫀 Keep blood vessels flexible and healthy

As oestrogen levels decline during menopause, that protection drops. Arteries can narrow. Blood pressure can rise. Cholesterol can increase. The risk of heart attack and stroke goes up. 💔

Common menopause-related changes that increase CVD risk:

💟 Weight gain (especially around the waist)
💟 Higher cholesterol
💟 Poorer blood sugar control
💟 Increased blood pressure
💟 More fat stored around the heart

These shifts aren’t about “letting yourself go.” They’re physiological. Hormonal. Real.

The good news? Lifestyle changes make a powerful difference. The right combination of movement, strength training, nutrition and stress management can significantly reduce risk — while also easing menopausal symptoms.

But I know this stage of life can feel overwhelming. When sleep is disrupted, energy is low and your body feels unfamiliar, it’s hard to know where to begin.

I am currently training to become a Certified coach, I will be trained in the evidence-based strategies midlife women need to protect their long-term heart health. I will help bridge the gap that traditional fitness training often misses — so women can feel confident, strong and supported through menopause and beyond. 💫

If you’re in midlife (or approaching it), this conversation matters.

I moved away to Taunton and started over and when we went into lockdown I took some of my classes online. I still teach my Monday morning on line and Jo still likes to receive my weekly recordings 😍

I have been busy doing some more studying in my midlife to become a Certified
'Menopause Movement Coach' and I am very excited to be able to start sharing some informative information to support you.

I am over half way through my training and I would like to combine all of this knowledge with my years of experience as a Fitness Professional into a new program - Funfit Health & Happiness Boutique ( more to follow......)
