One of the biggest myths around injury and pain is that you should completely stop moving until it goes away. š¤
In reality, for many conditions - especially things like back pain, tendon pain, and running injuries - movement is often an important part of recovery.
When we stop moving altogether, tissues can become stiffer, weaker, and more sensitive, which can actually make the problem last longer. š
That doesnāt mean you should ignore pain and push through anything. It means the goal is usually to adjust the load, not eliminate movement completely.
This might look like:āØāŖļøReducing training volumeāØāŖļøModifying exercisesāØāŖļøChanging intensity or pace
āŖļøIntroducing specific rehab exercises
The key is finding the right level of movement that keeps you active while allowing the body to settle and rebuild capacity.
If pain is stopping you from doing the things you enjoy, getting it assessed can help you understand what you can keep doing and what needs adjusting.
