It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year's theme is 'Movement: moving more for your mental health'.

Many of us struggle to move enough during the day, but moving regularly increases your energy, reduces stress and anxiety, and can boost your self-esteem.

Movement doesn't have to be strenuous and can be as simple as going for a brisk walk, stretching, doing housework, or shopping. Moving more is self care and will help you feel good.

This Bank Holiday Monday, our are exploring the world of diagnostic imaging with the future generation of scientists at Festival.

We'll be at the Haynes Motor Museum to teach the radiographers of tomorrow all about the MRI and X-Ray scans. Plus, play our amazing Scanner Scramble game and see if you can keep the metal objects out of the MRI scanner and get to the top of our leader board – there are prizes for the winners! Thank you so much to Hollywood Bowl Taunton and Ocean Adventurers for kindly donating vouchers for our top scorers.

An exciting annual event, Somerscience Festival blends the latest science and technology developments with shows, workshops, and talks into an interactive science fair for all ages - and it's all free.

It’s tomorrow! Somerscience Festival 2024 starts at 10 am through to 5.30pm and it’s FREE. So come and get involved with science at Haynes Motor Museum The Market House Ansford Academy Carymoor Environmental Trust Mill on the Brue Outdoor Activity Centre Caryford Community Hall and use our free shuttle buses to move between them. Shows, workshops, talks, demonstrations, and interactive stands on every aspect of science, technology, engineering and maths. Fun for all the family

For over ten years, Somerset Ryū has taught authentic Shotokan Karate to individuals of all ages and skill levels across the West Somerset region. Karate places a strong emphasis on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing, instilling discipline, and improving overall fitness. Alliance Medical Taunton donated £300 to the school which will go towards securing new competition helmets and body protectors for the junior kumite squad.
