What does it take to recover from OCD?
OCD is a medical condition that causes the sufferer to doubt. The doubt and need for certainty are the main drivers of OCD.
OCD makes you not trust yourself or your senses. You feel compelled to respond to the doubt by trying to get rid of the brain lock the anxiety or urges.
But it doesn’t work. In the short term you may feel some relief but not in the long term as doing compulsions to feel better is a trick of OCD. It keeps the cycle going.
You cannot out think OCD it will match your intelligence.
It keeps you hooked in with beliefs that become distorted.
It takes away peace by doing compulsions, it doesn’t bring you lasting peace. It wires the connection between danger and the theme further into your brain.
The first step is acceptance that your OCD symptoms are not you and caused by a medical condition.
Your brain can and will send you anything it wants too. But the key here is that you are being bluffed.
Trying to control and prevent an imagined fear based on thoughts, like but it may be possible.
or I read on the news etc etc.
or but it feels real. Your senses do not lie to you but OCD relies on your imagination not reality to bluff you. It’s the story that is scaring you not reality.
We can give you the tools the foundation of knowledge understanding and guide you to recovery.
You must be prepared to put in the work. It takes practice to respond differently to these dreadful symptoms. But you can do this!
We have recovered and so can you.

Struggling to stop seeking reassurance — even when you know it doesn’t help long-term?

Join our upcoming OCD Reassurance Workshop to explore why reassurance becomes so compulsive — and learn how to shift from short-term relief to long-term recovery.

Whether you ask loved ones for constant certainty, Google symptoms endlessly, or replay thoughts in your head for the “right feeling” — this workshop is for you.

We’re excited to continue with our launch of new workshops here at The OCD Treatment Centre — designed to offer accessible, practical support on key topics relevant to OCD and related difficulties.

The first three workshop titles will be delivered as pilot sessions as part of our ongoing development process. This will allow us to gather feedback and refine the structure, content, and delivery before offering workshops more widely. You’ll be invited to share your feedback at the end via Google Forms, to help shape the programme going forward.

The next workshop in this pilot offering is titled:

Reassurance in OCD – Understanding and Reducing the Cycle
and will run as follows:

🗓 Thursday 3rd July as an interactive workshop including small group discussions and break out rooms
🕑 9:00am–12noon (with a short coffee break and finishing with time for Q&A)

🗓 Thursday 17th July as a quiet workshop where group discussions and breakout rooms are replaced by quiet, individual reflection time
🕑 9:00am–12noon (with a short coffee break and finishing with time for Q&A using the google chat function to ask any questions)

These online workshops are hosted and delivered by Christy Green, a qualified teaching professional and specialist in OCD. This will be held via the Google Meet platform.

Whether you’re navigating OCD yourself or supporting someone who is, this workshop will offer valuable insights, practical strategies, and a supportive learning environment.

What to expect:

A practical and compassionate look at how reassurance fuels the OCD cycle

Clear guidance on how to recognise, reduce, and respond to reassurance-seeking/ reassurance seeking urges

Tools for building self-trust and emotional resilience

Support for carers on how to help without reinforcing compulsions

As this is the second in our pilot workshops and is an Extended Workshop with a total run time of 3 hours, we’re offering it at a reduced rate of £39 per person. Spaces are limited to 25 participants for each workshop to help us gather meaningful feedback and ensure an engaging experience. Over time, we plan to open future workshops to larger groups and on a more frequent basis. As this is our second pilot workshop, we kindly ask for your patience with any small teething issues that may arise during the process.

If you’d like to book a place, please contact info@ocdtreatmentcentre.com Please be clear regarding which workshop you would like to book on to. (Places are expected to fill quickly and will be offered on a first come, first served basis). Our Story

Welcome to The OCD Treatment Centre, a private facility based in the picturesque county of Somerset in south west England. We choose our therapists for their expertise, knowledge and most importantly, their personal experiences. Since they’ve all suffered and conquered OCD, they have a unique insight into living with the condition and this helps them connect with you, the client. Our philosophy We aim to inspire and empower you so you can regain control of your life. By sharing everything they’ve learned, our therapists demonstrate simple yet effective skills that will help you recover. We believe team support is extremely important and work collaboratively to support you and help you achieve a realistic set of goals. Our therapy is professional, informative, creative and challenging and can often be great fun. During the treatment, our therapists remain connected to you on a personal level, helping you at every stage to rediscover your life by managing it differently – such a change in behaviour can have a really beneficial impact on your wellbeing We recognise that everyone is unique with their own amazing attributes, and we want to help you fulfil your potential and live the life you so deserve to live – one that’s free from the constraints of OCD and its associated panic and anxiety. In the media We feel passionately that OCD should be represented properly by the media and other areas of public life. As a result of our actions, we have helped to raise awareness of the condition.
