Which foods could I ADD into my daily diet to support my immune health?

Sweet potatoes are a rich source of beta-carotene – the pigment that gives them their orange colour. Beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A. Vitamin A support the function of many types of immune cells including macrophages, T cells and B cells. Vitamin A also bolsters defence against several infections.

Lentils are packed with fibre, containing an impressive 8g per half can. Specifically, lentils contain prebiotics – a type of fermentable fibre that acts as ‘food’ for your gut microbiome. In return, your gut microbes release health-promoting compounds into the gut, such as short chain fatty acids (SFCAs).

I've been working alot with clients who are anaemic , low iron due to heavy periods and its interesting also that a SCFA called Butyrate really affects mood, its part of the gut-brain axis.
GUESS WHICH NUTRIENT is particularly important to its production? IRON!!! So if you have heavy periods and find you have really low mood they are connected and I have a protocol we can use together to support you with both symptoms.

Low mood can be down to so many things and as a nutritional therapist my training takes me to the root cause not just surpressing the symptom. Its wonderful how a few tweaks and expert advice can make a HUGE difference to symptoms you might have been struggling with for years.

We love relaxing on a Sunday, proper down time spending time in nature with the daxies and then recharging in front of the fire 😍 ready for the week ahead.

Some clients like to batch cook or meal plan on a Sunday and I thought I’d share a few tips and ideas that really work well using chat gpt.

Focusing on whole foods, probiotic foods, good quality protein, oily fish, 6-8 portions different veg daily some herbal teas and health snack ideas here is this weeks ideas list for you :

🥗 5-Day Meal Plan for Busy Workdays
Real food. Family-friendly. Easy to prep.

Breakfasts (rotate):
• Protein pancakes (oats, eggs, yoghurt/protein powder) + berries
• Smoothie: kefir, banana, spinach, peanut butter, seeds
• Eggs on toast with sautéed veg
🥛 Probiotic hit: kefir or live yoghurt

🥡 Packed Lunches (2 days)
• Batch-cooked Turkey Mince Chilli
(turkey mince, peppers, onion, tomatoes, lentils)
• Chicken & Roasted Veg Traybake
(organic chicken, sweet potato, broccoli, courgette, red onion)

This week I continued my professional development by completing Trauma-Informed Training and Mental Health First Aid Champion Training at Mind Somerset.

As a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist in Somerset, I specialise in supporting mental health, gut health, and emotional wellbeing through a compassionate, non-judgemental, and evidence-based approach. Creating a safe space allows clients to share openly, which is often key to identifying the root cause of symptoms.

My work includes nutritional therapy, genetic testing (including SNPs affecting serotonin production), and cellular-level support across all body systems, with a strong focus on the gut–brain axis. This holistic approach enables me to support clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, and burnout.

With my additional training, I am also equipped to recognise when someone may be approaching crisis, respond appropriately, and signpost to the right support services when needed.
