I released a video recently that 3 times per week training is pretty much optimal for most folk.

Tanking yourself every session is not healthy for most people. Even athletes.

It's why a lot of avid gym goers get injured.

Lack of recovery.

So they hammer the “weak” area with more core training, glute drills, or stability work


But you don't correct "weakness" with more training👇

🧠 Injury often comes from compensation — when one muscle shuts down, others have to overwork to keep you moving.

For natural pain-free movement, your muscles must fire in a certain sequence (ie. in a certain order). When muscles shut down, this sequence is compromised.

The result? A system out of sync. Muscles that are doing jobs they’re not designed for.
And eventually
 pain.

This is why sports massage is great as a short term fix but doesn't fix the root cause.

A message for athletes out there.

Training hard feels productive.
Training skillfully is what actually changes your body.

Most young athletes measure progress by how tired they feel. The problem? Fatigue doesn’t equal improvement.
Your body adapts to how you move, not how exhausted you are.

Training overload is needed but it's overrated too. It's seen as the be all end all of training by most athletes

If every session leaves you drained, your nervous system stops learning. Coordination drops. Movement gets sloppy. Strength becomes forced instead of controlled.

And niggling pain starts to surface

The best athletes don’t chase sweat — they chase precision. They practise strength, flexibility, and fitness as skills they’re trying to master, not punishments to survive.

Next session, ask yourself one question:
“Did I move better today than last week?”
If the answer is yes, you’re training like an athlete.

If you’re constantly training at an intensity of 9 or 10 out of 10 (on RPE), thinking it will bring faster results, you might actually be slowing yourself down AND keeping yourself injured.

Strong Glutes and Core for Supreme Athletic Performance

We all know we need these are 2 areas of our body to be strong for any sport we play. When glutes and core are working well, so do we. We will be quicker - we will move better - we will accelerate faster - we can improve endurance.

And we can prevent common issues such as back,knee, hip and hamstring injuries from happening.

However, standard glute and core exercises are not enough to have these important areas at their peak.

You can do an exercise focusing on the core or glutes but it’s likely that other muscles in your body are doing the lifting instead of them. This is compensation and it’s so common in non-injured athletes.
