As part of the Rites of Passage topic in Religious Studies, Year 8 students have been looking into the delicate subject of death.

On this day, 80 years ago. Britain celebrated victory in Europe. N**i Germany had finally waved the white flag of surrender after nearly 6 long years of conflict.
Today we celebrate and reminisce that victory. Today we remember once again those brave individuals who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
We owe them a debt we can never repay. Let us remember them, let us celebrate them. Let us invoke once more, the poem and the order:-
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
…WE WILL REMEMBER THEM 🇬🇧🎩🌹

Happy St. George’s Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Today is England's national day to mark the death of our Patron Saint.

St. George became the Patron Saint of England primarily due to his association with chivalry, bravery, and military prowess, particularly during the Crusades. This association was further cemented by English monarchs like Richard I, Edward III and Henry V, who revered him and invoked his protection in times of conflict.

Furthermore, St. George's image, particularly the St. George's Cross, became a symbol of national pride and unity, especially during the Wars of the Roses 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🎩🌹
