Revealing our Photographer of the Year 'Wildlife' winner ๐ฌ
Congratulations to Robert Hughes, whose striking photo of a mother and calf dolphin breaching at Labrador Bay, near Maidencombe earns him the winning place in our Wildlife category.
SWCPA Director and POTY judge, Julian Gray comments,
๐ฌ "A stunning image that clearly articulates the phrase "charismatic mega-fauna". Who wouldnโt want to see these beautiful creatures whilst walking the Coast Path? The flow and action captured in the photograph make it a deserved winner of the nature category."
Hear the story behind Robert's winning photo:
๐ฌ "I often come across local Short-beaked Common Dolphin pods and occasionally I get the rare opportunity to photograph these amazing wild animals as they majestically leap out of the water in unison. In this image, you can see an older calf breaching alongside its mother. I love the way the overcast light reflects off the sea surface, and the splashing water shows their motion in the split second they breach the surface."
You can view all the winning images and runners-up as part of the SWCP Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Paddington Station, London!
