At Roden Hall, we love creating moments that are truly personal to our residents.

Ron is a big fan of Shakespeare, so we celebrated Shakespeare Day just for him! He enjoyed watching Romeo and Juliet, a lovely change of pace, and was delighted to spend time immersed in something he’s so passionate about.

It’s always special to see our residents’ interests brought to life in meaningful ways.

We had a fantastic evening at Roden Hall for our Charity Bingo Night, raising funds for Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith as part of our 50 day Challenge.

Residents and families enjoyed a fun night of bingo, drinks and great company. Congratulations to all our winners—including Joyce, who took home the final prize of a bottle of Prosecco.

A big thank you to Karen for calling the numbers (and her famous duck whistle for number 2 !), and to everyone who stayed for a sing-along afterwards—country and western was a clear favourite!

A fantastic Extendercise session at Roden Hall with Sheila.

Peter was joined by his daughter and son-in-law, Les, making it a lovely family moment. Julia and Joyce enjoyed singing along to the classic tunes, reminiscing about dance halls and days gone by, while newcomer Meg wasn’t quite sure what to expect—but thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

We stepped into a world of wonder at Roden Hall with our Alice in Wonderland Tea Party to celebrate National Tea Day.

The lounge was beautifully transformed with playing cards, “Drink Me” bottles and a wall of roses, while residents enjoyed a fun game of flamingo croquet. John the Piano Man kept everyone entertained with a lovely singalong, and our kitchen team served up delicious tea, cakes and freshly baked scones.

It was wonderful to welcome family and friends, and we were proud to do some fantastic fundraising for Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith.

Boccia Challenge at Roden Hall 🏆

We had a brilliant Boccia showdown at Roden Hall this week!

Resident Pam, aged 92 and a big Boccia fan, took on our very own Home Manager Chelsie, a county-level bowls player with plenty of trophies to her name. It sounded like it might be a close match… but Pam had other ideas!

Pam secured an impressive 10–3 win in the first round, and when teams were mixed up for round two, she and Karen went on to win again 12–2—much to everyone’s delight!

Chelsie was quick with her defence though, saying, “The balls aren’t weighted, I need to get used to them!”

We’re already looking forward to the rematch.

Fun with Kiddley Divey at Roden Hall

Carolyn gave everyone a fantastic workout this week, with residents enjoying music, movement, and lots of laughter. Everyone loved choosing their favourite songs, making the session extra special.

There was fun with fancy hats and musical instruments, Jean sang along happily to her favourite ABBA songs, and Derek entertained everyone with amusing stories about his favourite (and slightly cheeky!) place to visit in London.

Celebrating Spring at Roden Hall

We’ve had a wonderful day celebrating spring with residents, families, and friends at Roden Hall! Paul Watkins entertained everyone with a lively singalong, while our crafting corner was full of creativity with Easter egg and bunny painting, plus beautiful keepsake flowers.

It was lovely to welcome friends old and new, enjoy our residents’ inspiring ‘Day in the Life’ art display, and tuck into a delicious picnic spread prepared by Jack and the kitchen team – with the brownies proving especially popular!

We’ve been getting creative at Roden Hall as part of our ‘A Day in the Life’ art project.

Residents have been busy capturing special moments from around our home, turning photographs into beautiful line drawings that can be coloured and personalised. These wonderful creations will be proudly showcased at our Celebration of Spring event next week.

Glenis enjoyed making the most of the sunshine on the balcony while working on her piece, while Pam and Peter spent a relaxing afternoon in the café creating their designs together. Peter has even taken his away to add the finishing touches!

It’s been lovely to see everyone’s creativity shine and bring our home to life through art.
