What better way to spend a rainy day than snuggled up in our very own cinema? 🌧️🍿 Residents enjoyed a cosy screening of Steel Magnolias, starring Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton and Sally Field – the perfect film for an afternoon of laughter, friendship and heart. 💐💖

With the room kept warm and welcoming, everyone settled in with drinks and a delicious new sweet selection – a full pick ’n’ mix of fudges, hard sweets and more. 🍬🥤 The atmosphere was just right for a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon indoors.

🎨👻 Craft & Chat at Ellerdine Village Hall 👻🎨

On Monday evening, our residents joined friends at the Ellerdine Craft & Chat group for another creative session. This time, we learned how to shape clay into ornaments – with a spooky seasonal twist! 🍂✨

Everyone made their own clay ghost, ready to be decorated at the next session. Pam gave hers a scary monobrow, while Olive added tiny beady eyes to make hers extra spooky. 👀 It was wonderful to see some familiar faces from previous visits and to share laughter and creativity together.

The evening was made even more enjoyable with plenty of tea, coffee, and biscuits provided by the village hall. ☕🍪

We can’t wait to return and bring our clay ghosts to life with decoupage next time! 🥰

Our beautiful knitted octopus Neerali, created by Lifestyle Assistant Karen during her 1-1 sessions on the Nursing Floor, has found a new home! The lucky winner was our very own Roden Carer, Chrissie, who was absolutely delighted with her prize. 🎉

Thanks to everyone’s generosity, the raffle raised an amazing £151 in support of Cuan Wildlife Rescue 🦊🦉 – a fantastic achievement for such an important cause.

🌍🎶 A Musical World Tour with Kiddleydivey UK 🎶🌍

We had a fantastic visit from Carolyn of Kiddley Divey, who took us on a magical music world tour! From singing along with Rod Stewart’s Sailing, to meeting Molly Malone in Dublin, crossing the channel to the Moulin Rouge, diving beneath the sea in a yellow submarine, washing that man right out of our hair in the South Pacific, and ending with Land of Hope and Glory back in Blighty – we even flew to the moon with Frank Sinatra! 🌙✨

It was wonderful to welcome newcomers Derek, Mary, and Vera, who all loved the session. Ann, joined by her daughter Helen, shone as always – she truly comes alive during our music afternoons. 💕

Music, memories, movement, and laughter – the perfect recipe for wellbeing. 🌟

🎮🎳 Gaming on the Big Screen 🎳🎮

Our residents had a brilliant time getting active with Nintendo Switch Sports – a great way to socialise, use modern technology, and keep coordination sharp! 🌟

The highlight of the day? Pam’s incredible 230 score – we think she’s ready for the real bowling alley! 🎉 Meanwhile, we finally convinced Beryl to swap spectating for playing, and she picked it up quickly. Pat wowed us all with five strikes in a row… but even that wasn’t enough to beat Pam! 👏

While bowling remains the favourite, this week we also tried our hand at badminton – plenty of laughs and lots of room for practice. 🏸

Well done everyone – a fantastic mix of fun, movement, and friendly competition! 💪😊

Our residents had a fantastic time taking part in Extendercise with Sheila Caspell – a session designed to improve muscle strength, coordination, and stamina while keeping spirits high! 🌟

Michael was especially pleased to see how much he’s improved, getting his arms moving with confidence. Residents also tried out a brand-new hand exercise linked to memory – and they all went away determined to keep practicing! 👐🧠

A wonderful mix of fitness and music – we can’t wait for the next session!

🦎🐍 A Wild Afternoon at Roden Hall! 🐌🕷️

We had a very special visit from Dominique at ZooLab who brought along some fascinating creatures for our residents to meet. From Madagascan hissing cockroaches to a corn snake, white tree frog, leopard gecko, giant snail, and even a tarantula – there was plenty of excitement (and a few nerves!).

Our residents were captivated by Dominique’s fun facts and stories about the animals, most of which are rescues or unwanted pets. 🌍✨

A big well done to Jean, who bravely held, touched, and stroked the creatures – she was absolutely thrilled! 👏 Linda, and Olive preferred to admire from a safe distance, proving you don’t have to hold a snake to enjoy the experience. 🥰

It was a truly unique and engaging afternoon that left everyone talking – we can’t wait for the next visit!

🛍️✨ Shopping Trip to Mere Park Garden Centre ✨🛍️

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to Mere Park Garden Centre – a chance to socialise, shop, and of course, enjoy a good cup of tea! ☕🍰

🌟 Trip highlights:
💛 Pat & Beryl visited for the very first time and had a lovely time exploring.
🎁 Pat chose a special gift for her daughter and some sweet treats for her grandchildren.
👗 Beryl loved browsing the clothes and kitchenware.
🍂 Everyone enjoyed getting a sneak peek at the autumn and Halloween decorations being set up – very exciting to see what’s coming!
🛒 And of course, we didn’t leave empty-handed… a big bag of goodies came home with us!

It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of lovely memories. 💐
