💪🎶 Movement & Music with Sheila! 🎶💪

Sheila hosted another fun and active session this week, encouraging residents to get moving. We were delighted to have Isaac back after some time away — he was eager to join in again!

Regulars enjoyed the session too, learning about the benefits of small hand-movement exercises and how they may support memory. Pam has been giving them a try and is waiting to see the results!

A lovely afternoon of gentle exercise, great music, and plenty of smiles.

🎄✨ Christmas is Coming to Roden Hall! ✨🎄

We’ve been busy decorating the home this week, getting everything ready for Christmas — and for our Christmas Fayre this weekend! Trees are now sparkling in Reception, the East Lounge, and the Café, with more decorations going up each day.

Becky and Lois beautifully decorated the reception tree, with Jim supervising after hanging a few pieces himself. Upstairs, Julia and Sylvia directed the placement of every bauble — especially the teddy ornaments! — while Carol added her own festive touch by hanging decorations too.

With Christmas music playing and residents joining in to admire the progress, the home already feels wonderfully festive.

Doodle & Drink at Roden Hall!

This morning we gathered in our Berrington’s Café for a wonderfully relaxed ‘Doodle & Drink’ session. Residents let their creativity flow as they designed and decorated mugs.

Jean joined us for the company (and a good cup of coffee!) while enjoying watching everyone’s artwork come to life. Jim wasn’t planning to take part at first, but after seeing the group having fun, he decided to give it a go — and he was delighted with his finished design!

Once the paint dries and the mugs are varnished, everyone will be able to enjoy their beautiful creations. A chilled, creative morning well spent.

Afternoon Tea Treat at Roden Hall!

Yesterday, our wonderful kitchen team prepared the most delightful afternoon tea, complete with fairy cakes, lemon and carrot cake, and classic scones topped with cream and strawberries. The tables were set with China teapots, and residents helped themselves to “posh” coffees and hot chocolates.

Although magazines were laid out, everyone chose to gather around just two tables — squeezing in together for a cosy, laughter-filled afternoon of socialising.

We were also delighted to welcome Jim back for a short holiday. His first full day was spent catching up with friends from his previous stay, making the afternoon even more special.

Moments like these remind us of the value of time spent together.

Christmas Crafting at Roden Hall!

Our Christmas spirit is well and truly underway at Roden Hall Care Home! Yesterday’s bauble-making session was a huge hit, with Pat, her daughter, and her grandson joining in to create some beautiful handmade decorations.

From cheerful Santas to adorable snowmen (some even dressed up!), the creativity was flowing. Linda especially loved the snowmen and kindly donated all of her creations to our upcoming Christmas Craft Fayre — such a thoughtful gesture. ❤️

We’re getting increasingly excited as we count down to decorating the home for the festive season. Bring on the Christmas magic! 🎅❄️

🎄 Christmas Crafting at Roden Hall! 🎄

We’ve kicked off the festive season with our first Christmas card-making session — and what a lovely morning it was!

Pam created a beautiful variety of designs using the special craft box gifted to us last year by one of our residents. Ann enjoyed exploring all the decorative pieces and couldn’t choose a favourite… she loved them all!

Ruth made thoughtful cards for all her family and even kindly gifted one for our upcoming Christmas Fayre.

It was a wonderfully relaxing morning filled with creativity, conversation, and Christmas cheer. The ladies are already excited for the next festive craft session — and so are we!

🎶 A Musical Treat at Roden Hall! 🎶

Paul Watkins delighted our residents once again with another outstanding performance! Everyone gets excited when they hear Paul is coming to town, and he never fails to get residents singing along to some classic favourites.

Brian was joined by his wife Liz, while Trish and Ann spent the afternoon with their daughters. Jean and Julia were thrilled to be serenaded by Paul, and all our residents enjoyed the music alongside their favourite tipple from The Golden Oak.

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable memories! ❤️

🔥🎆 Fireworks at Roden Hall – A Sparkling Success! 🎆🔥

Our Bonfire Night was a huge success! Residents, families, and friends came together for an evening full of hot chocolates, BBQ treats, marshmallows, toffee apples, honeycomb, and a Tesco’s finest hamper raffle.

It was wonderful to see so many residents enjoying the night with their loved ones, including Alf and his family, who sat outside his room to take in the display, and Pam with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Our very own piano man John brought his family along to see where he plays, and our beauticians Suzanne and Dawn joined in the fun with their families. Even former receptionist Kelsey returned to celebrate with us!

The evening was filled with laughter, friendship, and a breath-taking firework display. Residents loved spending time with familiar faces, enjoying the cosy atmosphere and festive treats.

A special congratulations to Lynne, who came back to work for the evening to help out and also won the raffle prize! Thank you for being such a friendly face and for adding to the magic of the night.
