π Today is World Mental Health Day π
Mental health problems are a growing public health concern. They are prevalent not just in the UK, but around the world. Below are some facts taken from the Mental Health Foundation:
β’ Mental health problems are one of the main causes of the overall disease burden worldwide.
β’ Mental health and behavioural problems (e.g. depression, anxiety and drug use) are reported to be the primary drivers of disability worldwide, causing over 40 million years of disability in 20 to 29-year-olds.
β’ Major depression is thought to be the second leading cause of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the burden of su***de and ischemic heart disease.
β’ It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem.
If you are struggling or just don't feel 'quite right' please remember to talk. Whether it's a family member, a friend, a professional, a stranger....anyone!
As the saying goes "a problem shared, is a problem halved" and although your problem may not be solved, just talking may help you get the support that's needed. Always remember that although not every day is a good day, there is something good in every day. Keep moving! πͺπΌπ
