Macoby Clinical Canine Massage by Kim Rufus RVN

Macoby Clinical Canine Massage by Kim Rufus RVN Kim is a Shropshire based Registered Vet Nurse & accredited Clinical Canine Massage Therapist & certified canine mobility therapist
(1)

Canine Massage is a safe form of complementary therapy achieving results in as little as 1-3 sessions working alongside your Veterinary Surgeon for the best possible outcome. As a therapist I not only address your dogs muscles I also look at your dogs gait, posture & daily activities formulating a home care plan. Massage can help to treat a variety of conditions ranging from soft tissue such as sp

rains/strains to orthopaedic issues such as elbow or hip dysplasia addressing tight sore muscles, tension, trigger points & myofascial pain. I find that this therapy is especially useful for dogs with arthritis as it helps to provide hands on natural pain relief & improving quality of life as part of a multi modal approach. Your dog does not need to be injured to benefit though as massage is great for keeping them in peak condition helping to detect any areas of discomfort before they become a problem. Kim also has an interest in nutrition, oncology & senior care. She is also a fully trained pet first aid instructor offering day courses.

Today has been a difficult day, very emotional 🌈

I was sorry to hear of the passing of two of my regular clients....

- Rupert has been with me since the beginning of Macoby, he was a gentle soul with a big heart ❤
- Jess a relative newbie to massage to help with arthritic discomfort, she will also be massively missed

Sending my love to their families & thank you for trusting me to help them. Sleep tight pups & run free over the rainbow bridge ###x

Please be advised with the weather set to be getting warmer over the next few days I will be rescheduling appointments to when it's cooler for them (and me!) as your dogs comfort is my priority 🐶❤

Looks like the warm weather is staying for a little while longer ☀️

Remember to look after your four legged friends whilst it's looking to get hotter over the next few days. Walk them early or later, provide plenty of water & keep them cool!! :)

Smile for the camera ❤

Love this photo of Dreamy taken by her Mom during her massage treatment last weekend, think she enjoyed her neck work where she was carrying some tension🙂

I have not seen Dreamy for a while due to her having a couple of operations last year on each hindlimb known as a femoral head & neck excision where the femoral head & neck (ball part of the joint) are removed completely allowing a false joint to form, in her case this was due to Legg Calve Perthes Disease common in smaller breeds 😞

Pebbles ❤

I have been seeing Pebbles recently for clinical canine massage & also to use him as a case study for my rehab diploma.

As you can see this lad is a tri paw having had his leg amputated a few years ago following a road traffic accident but now he is showing signs of over compensation and areas of discomfort which is common with amputees such as tight sore epaxials

I think these photos highlight his progress so far combining massage with remedial exercises tailored to his needs :) He is starting to balance better, less tension in his back leading to a straighter top line, better forelimb placement & generally seems happier in himself!!

Lovely day out & about on visits in the sunshine.........

Isaac had his maintenance massage this morning but judging from his face he's not too happy I managed to find & sort a pesky trigger point 🤣❤

Then I went to do an initial meet/greet & assessment of an amazing but slightly timid Greyhound - Clover ❤
I look forward to working with her & helping address a few niggles & sore spots I picked up on today :)

Accounts & notes all written up, time to relax ahead of Ellerdine Village Hall clinic tomorrow!

Macoby Clinical Canine Massage

Hello - I am Kim and I run Macoby Clinical Canine Massage & natural healthcare. As well as being a clinical canine massage therapist, I am also a Registered Veterinary Nurse with over 26 years of experience of being in practice. I have always held an interest in complementary therapies and decided to re-train in massage so that I can offer my clients the best possible care and treatment.

In addition I also write for Edition Dog magazine & volunteer my time helping out Canine Arthritis Management. Recently I have qualified in teaching canine first aid.

Clinical canine massage is great for young dogs, agility/working dogs right through to the senior dog who may be sore due to Arthritic change (there is a lot more we can do now to help them rather than just relying on pain relief). What I do is look at your pet as a whole and not just treat the symptoms in front of me, so with your Veterinary Surgeons consent, I can help and advice you the best I can to provide a better quality of life.

To get in touch then email kim@macoby.co.uk or call me on 07983 759975.
