We're delighted to have been invited by Charities Management to share the story behind A Better Tomorrow's newly launched charity.

Our CEO, Scott, has written honestly about why the charity exists, what it aims to achieve, and the very real challenges it faces. From the funding pressures facing so many charities right now to the stigma that still surrounds addiction and homelessness in particular, there is no shortage of obstacles to navigate.

But there is also no shortage of reasons to keep going. Behind every statistic – and the numbers are stark – is a person whose life can be transformed with the right support at the right time. That's what drives everything we do.

Built on 12 years of experience through our CIC, and proudly peer-led by people who understand these issues first-hand, the new charity is focused on three clear aims: psychosocial support, employability, and early intervention around addiction and mental health.

If you'd like to understand more about what we've built, where we're headed, and why we believe this work matters more than ever, we'd love for you to give it a read.

Sobriety isn’t about being perfect—it’s about choosing yourself every single day.

This picture hits different because it reminds me how far I’ve actually come. There were days I didn’t think I’d make it through, moments I wanted to give up, and times I felt completely lost. But I kept showing up. One day at a time. Sometimes one hour at a time.

I don’t have everything figured out—and that’s okay. What matters is that I’m still here, still trying, still choosing growth over giving up.

Every step forward, no matter how small, counts. And looking back now, I can finally see the strength it took to get here.

Here’s to progress, not perfection. 🖤

We're thrilled to share that ABT has been awarded £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund.

This grant will allow us to recruit an essential and additional support worker. Our support workers are the consistent, compassionate presence that makes recovery possible. They show up, every single day, for people navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Since 2014, ABT has supported 3,742 people affected by addiction, homelessness, mental ill-health and domestic abuse – and we welcome around 20 new people every month. Demand across Telford continues to grow, and this funding means we can grow with it.

As Scott, our CEO, explains: "Recovery is possible – but only when safe housing, structured support and meaningful community are available together."

Thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund, and to every National Lottery player whose support makes grants like this possible: thank you. You're helping us reach more people, sooner.
