📍Lateral ankle sprains

‼️ Lateral ankle sprains involve an injury to the ligaments in the lateral or outside portion of the ankle. These include the Anterior Talofibular Ligament (ATFL) Calcaneofibular Ligament (CFL) and Posterior Talofibular Ligament (PTFL).

🛑 These ligaments stop excessive movement. Sprains occur when an excessive force is applied (i.e. rolling the ankle) to these supporting ligaments and they become overstretched and tear.

⚠️ It is much easier to sprain the lateral ankle ligaments compared to the medial ankle ligaments secondary to their stability.
