Today is a busy day here!!!

Elsa is 21 🥳 how did that even happen ?

We are celebrating with her and by happy coincidence it’s also the official start of the year of the horse.

Elsa is the one who was obsessed with horses from a very early age. It’s her determination to have her own pony, learn to ride and also learn to put her pony’s needs first that led us to where we are now.

The beautiful Dusty was Elsa’s games pony. She was the one who showed us the way of a therapy pony. Sadly we lost her at the grand old age of 39.

Rose was Elsa’s first competition horse.
She is reliable, safe and looked after Elsa as she learned to jump and now is a valuable member of the Caspian Wood therapy team

The beautiful Willow was Elsa’s pony too. Her memory will live on as we build up willows wish CIC this year.

Now Elsa has Orla (the golden princess- who does not live up to her name!) and Jess. They are her therapy horses who keep her sane and grounded whilst studying at university.

The year of the fire horse is sent to propel us in 2026 with fire in our bellies & hearts. 🔥

Here at Caspian Wood we are going to make the most of this energy and push forward in our mission to reach more children and families that need our support

Hold onto your hats, big things are coming

❤️Family ❤️

Family enhances belonging regardless of its structure.

Family doesn’t have to connect you by blood, but by bond of friendship support and love

Family fosters emotional wellbeing and better outcomes for children

Family can be big or small but should be secure and caring relationships

It helps children to learn social skills and how to build connections

Encourage open calm communication

Spend quality time together

Create special family traditions

Honour each others interests

It helps to build inner confidence & resilience
Children learn to feel like they belong even if they are happy, sad or angry.

They grow into adults who can go anywhere and do anything in life as their core beliefs are solid & strong

What are your plans this weekend and half term with your family?

We are gathering with my Dad and older daughter for her 21st

Getting creative - pottery painting on Tuesday

Then Pip and I are going on an adventure to find waterfalls and visit Cheddar gorge at the end of half term

Plus we will be holding our usual half term pony fun with my equine therapy family and your wonderful children

Gratitude fosters a deep sense of belonging and acceptance. 🙏

It strengthens social bonds

Enhances emotional intelligence

& nurtures connections

Sharing positive experiences and appreciating others brings value

Celebrating personal journeys, recognising our own challenges brings growth and self acceptance

It improves engagement and support
By grounding and connecting into the world around you

For children it makes them feel worthy, enough, they believe they matter, therefore more likely to help others…..

(these are core inner beliefs that can leave us as adults with inner child wounds if that was not fostered and nurtured during our childhoods)

So what are you thankful for this Thursday?

How can you improve your wellbeing through belonging??? 🥰

This goes for all of us not just our children

So to create a sense of belonging here are our 5 top tips:

1- create meaningful connections, invite others

2- nurture friendships & social circles

3- volunteer

4- Engage in daily acts of Kindness

5- try new hobbies/activities- yoga, book club, crafts, art group etc…..

These steps will help to reduce isolation, create a sense of purpose and get you out to meet new people- to find ‘your’ people

This is also scientifically proven to reduce anxiety and depression. Remember if you are struggling you do not need to do so alone. We are here to help support you and show you the way….. 💖

🤗. Belonging…… 🥰

This is an essential human need, for social connection, and so important for both physical and mental health

To be accepted, secure, valued as an authentic member of a group or community

To feel welcome for who you are.
Exactly as you are.
Without the need to hide or mask, no requirement to ‘fit in’

To share values and activities in an inclusive environment

Where you have a voice and are heard, held and supported so you feel safe and seen.

This is everything we encapsulate here at Caspian Wood and exactly what the children and families with SEN need so much.

We are proud to be able to offer our space for you to belong…… In order to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Whenever and forever long you need.

If you need this in your life or for your child we have spaces coming available after half term.
Drop a message so we can bring you into our community and welcome you with open arms
And of course furry kisses and hooves!

🌼 Today’s therapy pony is Daisy 🌼

Daisy has been with us for just under a year. She came for rehab. Unfortunately the environment she was in beforehand was not good for her emotionally so her owner made the hard decision to let her childhood pony find somewhere with experienced people to help her recover.

After two weeks here it was clear how much of an emotional toll her previous home had on her as she relaxed and started to breathe properly again.

It has taken gentle coaxing and slow integration for Daisy to settle here. She still likes to keep herself on the edge of the herd but Orla has taken to mothering her and checking she’s ok.

Daisy loves people. She is so affectionate.
She is now registered as one of our therapy ponies and we think she will love her job.

The children who struggle to fit in and understand social situations will gravitate to Daisy as she will understand how they feel.
Spending time grooming Daisy and being. Will help both to ground and heal.

We can’t wait to see how she works her magic with the children over this year 💖

Your Wellbeing Wednesday question is….

What do you do for Fun & to bring joy into your life?

With January being so wet and miserable and so so so long….. I think we all need a little reminder of what Joy and fun look like!
Or is it just me!!!!

I think I’ve said before that Fun is a tricky one for me. Doing what I do always brings me joy when I see the children leave with a smile but it is hard work at the moment running this place!

So this year I am scheduling in Fun into my diary. At least once a month!!!!

So January was the Strictly Come Dancing live show. Brilliant!🤩

This month we are pottery painting for Elsa’s 21st then I’m taking pip to Cheddar gorge for a few days in half term

That’s a good start but I need help!!!!
Throw some ideas and let’s inspire each other 💖

When it’s dull and dreary outside we need something to look forward to…..
