Thankyou to Tenterden Social Hub & Dementia Centre for inviting us, always a pleasure to support our local community

Tenterden Social Hub & Dementia Centre joined forces with Jo Pemble from The Care Company to deliver an insightful Dementia Awareness training session for staff Waitrose & Partners. The session aimed to equip team members with valuable skills to better support customers living with dementia in-store.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive — thank you to everyone involved for making a real difference! 💙

💡 Spotlight on: ReSPECT Documents 💡
Planning for emergency situations can be very sensitive and sometimes upsetting, because we hate to think the worst, and for many thinking or speaking about the end of their life is hard.
For those of us who have very clear wishes or preferences, may have complex health needs putting us at increased risk of deteriorating health, or may be nearing the end of life, it is best to have these written down and shared with your loved ones and health and care providers.
ReSPECT forms can help you to do this.
Give us a call to chat about how we can support in these situations; contact your GP to find out more or search ‘Respect forms’ on the NHS Kent and Medway website: https://www.kentandmedway.icb.nhs.uk/

To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, we have been lucky enough to have some photos and memories shared with us from Mr Colin Deverell, Distinguished Flying Medal and Legion D’Honneur recipient. A client of ours, a Tenterden resident and all round war hero! See pictures to read his memories...
We feel so lucky to be able to know and support Colin, and that he can still share these incredible memories with us, as well as being able to enjoy days out with his family to celebrate his contributions to the war effort. We thank him for all that he did, and for allowing us to share these wonderful stories and pictures.

Today marks World Hand Hygiene Day. We highlight this as a reminder of the importance of effective hand washing, as this remains our best defence against multiple illnesses including respiratory infections such as the common cold, flu and COVID, as well as those causing vomiting and diarrhoea.
The process of washing your hands should take 40-60 seconds if done effectively using liquid soap and water, and drying the hands thoroughly with a single use paper towel.
Important times for washing your hands include:
✅Before preparing/handling/eating food
✅After handling raw meat
✅After emptying the bins
✅After using the toilet
✅After coughing/sneezing
✅After any kind of cleaning
For Carers specifically:
✅Before and after contact with a client
✅Before putting on clean gloves and after removing them
✅In between tasks and changing gloves
✅After handling soiled linen, clothing or incontinence products
✅After exposure to bodily fluids
Hand Hygiene is a very simple and effective method of helping ourselves and everyone in our community safe and well

💡Spotlight on: Parkinson's💡 April is generally recognised as Parkinson's Awareness Month. Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition- meaning that damage in the brain worsens over time, causing a range of symptoms. There are several different types of Parkinson's. The reason people develop Parkinson's is as yet unknown.
Parkinson's UK is a really useful source of information, support and guidance for anyone newly diagnosed, living with Parkinson's or supporting someone living with Parkinson's. Visit www.parkinsons.org.uk
We can help with care and support needs associated with a diagnosis of Parkinson's. Give Vicky or April a call on 01580 762202 or email care@carecompany.care

⭐Client Feedback Friday⭐ Its that time again! Its very difficult to decide for a loved one that they need to move into full time residential care for their own safety and wellbeing. This can be made easier by a supportive team of home carers in the run up to taking this decision, and knowing that you've done all you can to keep that person at home for as long as possible

⭐Client Feedback Friday⭐ We receive so many wonderful compliments and testimonials, which really help to make the work we do worthwhile. This one sums up particularly well the value of Care Workers and what we add to the world on a daily basis. A huge thankyou to our wonderful team of Carers for all that they do every day 🥰💜
