Most of my days are spent with people who are living in the worst part of their lives. It certainly makes you think about life. This superb exhibition by artist Emma Talbot at The Arnolfini is very thought provoking. It runs until the 8th Feb and is certainly worth a visit.

There are many benefits of Manual lymphatic drainage massage even for those without a cancer diagnosis, as it can improve immune function, reduce water retention and puffiness as well as improve sleep, migraines and fatigue. It is an extremely gentle and relaxing treatment so don't be surprised if you fall asleep! We offer this treatment in both West Swindon and Tetbury.

What are Complementary Therapies?

Complementary Therapies are treatments, such as reflexology, massage and
aromatherapy, which are used alongside conventional treatments. The aim is that the therapies complement the treatment that you could get from
your doctor, or self-prescribed. Alternative Therapies are treatments that are used instead of conventional, on their own. An example here could be reflexology being used to deal with the symptoms of the menopause, rather than using HRT.

Complementary Therapies have been around for thousands of years. Many people think of them as modern and “new age”, but in fact the conventional medicine that we routinely use and get prescribed from our doctors is all based on aged old Complementary Therapies, mainly herbal medicine. The central concept for the majority of therapies is that the whole person is looked at rather than just treating a specific symptom.
Complementary Therapists see symptoms as valuable messengers which can indicate an underlying problem. These symptoms can indicate that the
balance has been altered and that some adjustments may need to be made for health to be regained.

One of the treatments that we carry out is The 'M' Technique®. This is
a method of structured touch. Each movement and sequence is done a set
number of times, in a set pattern, at a set pressure and set speed that
never changes. The 'M' Technique® works on skin receptors that send
signals to the brain and is suitable for the very fragile, critically
ill, or actively dying patient, or when someone is just very stressed or
anxious and needs to be able to experience some calm.
