Rebecca Stone BSc - Sports Therapist

Rebecca Stone BSc - Sports Therapist Rebecca Stone Sports Therapy Hello and welcome to my business page! I am able to treat musculo-skeletal injuries, regardless of their cause.

If you are wondering what ‘sports therapy’ is all about, let me enlighten you: I assess, treat and rehabilitate musculo-skeletal injuries. Despite my job title, your injury does not need to be sport-related, nor do you need an interest in sport. This means that the ‘one size fits all’ approach to rehabilitation has NO place in my clinic! I pride myself in tailoring my treatment and rehabilitation plans to the individual in front of me. Whether your injury-free aim is to be able to complete the London Marathon or to walk your daughter down the aisle without the use of a cane, I am able to design a treatment plan to achieve your personal goals! A little about me: I set up two clinics, one at Gym and Tonic, Bredons Hardwick and the other at Body4You, Winchcombe in 2007 after graduating from Birmingham with a first class honours degree in sports therapy. I hold my hands up and admit I am committing professional blasphemy by stating that my sport of choice is rugby union. I have ten seasons experience in rugby union, working as the lead sports therapist at Camp Hill Rugby Club and with Gloucester RFC. I stopped working pitch-side to have my children, but aim to return to professional sport in the not-so-distant future. In addition to my experience within the RFU, I have worked at Gloucester Football Club, London Marathon, Great North Run, National Indoor Athletics, Disability Athletics, National Kickboxing Finals, Tewkesbury half marathon, Croft Farm SUP triathlon, Race for Life events amongst other events. I believe that my personal experience with injury makes me very empathetic towards my clients. I truly understand the emotional and psychological elements associated to injury and therefore I ensure that I not only treat the physical, but address the mental complications of injury also. In short: a ‘manufacturing error’ put a stop to my sporting ambitions and I had to adjust my physical, social and mental state to my bio-mechanical limitations. We shouldn’t underestimate the power of positive mental attitude and how damaging a negative outlook can have on the body’s power to heal! I regularly attend workshops, seminars, conferences and keep researching around my vocation, keeping my knowledge and skills up-to-date. You can never stop learning! Any therapist who thinks they know it all, is wrong and frankly unsafe to practice! When I am not working or furthering my education, I focus on keeping myself fit and healthy. I regularly attend bootcamp, circuits and clubbercise (who doesn’t like working out to dance music with glow-sticks in hand??). I enjoy working out in the gym and going for long, brisk walks exploring the countryside, especially with my family in tow. The rest of the time available to me is spent with my nearest and dearest. I am a family gal and love spending time with my two children (three, if you include my husband in that head-count). If you would like to make an appointment with myself or need any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me. NB: I now solely work out of my clinic at Croft Farm Water Park, Bredon's Hardwick.

Congratulations to my fellow regional rep, Alex Moore for hosting our first Sports Therapy Association regional conference this weekend. It was lovely to talk to old friends and to meet new STA members.

Apologies for my virtual tumbleweed of late!

I have been a busy 🐝 this new year. Clients of mine may or may not know that as well as being a clinician in my field, I am also a regional representative for the Sports Therapy Association. This role requires me to be a port-of-call for fellow therapists to raise queries, concerns and to assist in their professional journey where possible. Behind the scenes I have been organising an educational opportunity for those in the industry, and May this year will also see myself and my fellow STA rep for the South West host our first regional conference. So, there's a lot going on! Not to mention that my injury clinic has been jammed full thus far!

As I look at this past week, my work has been varied:

- Osteoarthritic neck management

- Osteoporosis pain modification

- Capsulitis rehabilitation

- Supporting an iron-man training plan

- General sports massage

- Prehab (training before an operation) for a full hip replacement

To name but a few! There's never a dull moment in the life of a Sports Therapist.

I would like to wish all of my clients a very Merry Christmas and 🥂 here's to a happy and healthy 2025. 🎄🎅🎁🍾
